Take it easy
section from Orehovica further to south is a part of A7. there will not be wide bypass at that section. wide bypass (And new A7) will be between Jurdani and Grobnik. personally I hope A7 will remain as today, and future wide bypass will get new number, A14 for instance.

you mean between Permani and Grobnik... btw there should be some connection between Grobnik and Križišće too.

Croatian expressways don't have special "B" designations, but they are designated with D-something (e.g. A1 to Zadar is D 424, Split-Dugopolje is D1, A1 to Ploče D 425)

The only road today with B-sign is B8 because "B" is for half-motorways, until they're finished. So last summer B9 became A9, B6 became A6 in 2008. B8 will become A8 in 2014 (part from Kanfanar to Pazin will be upgraded to full profile A8 in November 2011)

It's pity that we don't have special designations for expressways (like Slovenia), but that's because there's not so many of them

Of course there will be part of A7 from Grobnik to Križišće, you can see on the map. But they don't know the exact route. Probably there will be mutual part of A6 and A7 between Grobnik and new junction Mali Svib, and then A7 will go south to Križišće. The existing "A7" doesn't have motorway standards (hard shoulders, 4m median, lanes 3,75 m...). I don't like that either, but A6 is going south-east after Grobnik, so it could be used as part of A7. That is not so strange in other countries, for example: the south part of Ljubljana ring is part of A1 and A2

The other map:

this Križišće - Mali Svib is SF imo but anyway - nice idea.
i hate joined names on certain sections (also, totso's ) so I really hope that Grobnik - Permani will get its number

As ivan_ri said, only section from Pula to Kanfanar is 2x2, but also the biggest part from Kanfanar to SLO border is finished (but not opened to traffic). There are few exits that are finished (full profile) and you can drive on the new part:

exit #1 Umag - finished (you can see on the pictures from Gorgoroth)

exit #4 Višnjan: http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=45.274...&z=17&l=20&m=s

exit #5 Baderna: http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=45.216...&z=17&l=20&m=s

That sounds like a synonym for "Dutch slowpokes"

not bad. 4 2x2 road connections with Slovenia after A9 is finished.

That's excellent!

But the problem is that there won't be such roads on Slovenian side (few kms around border crossings) in next few years (until cca 2013-2014), so there will be traffic jams during summer Only their A2 and our A3 are connected and fully built between Ljubljana and Zagreb. Slovenian A4 isn't connected to our A2 yet (cca 15 km missing), and H5 won't be finished and connected to A9 in next 2-3 years...
The last one is our A7 which ends at Rupa/Jelšane border crossing, and Slovenian government haven't decided yet whether to build a motorway/expressway to Divača or Postojna

Frankly speaking, the greatest traffic jam during summer holidays will be on the new-built roundabout.
And beware, the first two kilometers of A9, from the Croatian border checkpoint to the Plovanija exit, are common 2+1 road (just as the existing road on Slovenian side from Koper to the border) with one crossing (local road from Kaštel) and one roundabout (state road no. D22).
Sorry, but all the informations about the current (or near future) state of Croatian motorways must be accurate.

Even if the motorways were all finished there would still be traffic jams in the summer, because of the border crossings, until Croatia joins Schengen, but by then Slovenia will have built all of the motorways. Well maybe not the one to Rupa/Jelšane

Traffic jams are there because of the external Schengen border. The A4 will've been completed by 2015 (could be sooner), we don't know about H5, but at least the path is chosen and it's short. The biggest problem is Rijeka-Ljubljana/Trieste. Not short, tough terrain and low traffic. You had it easy on your side, A7 is short and close to Rijeka.

That's all true
But as soon as you build your H5, A9 will connect to it and that 2+1 part will be upgraded into 2+2 or even 3+2 (because of the slope). So in present condition there will be jams in Croatian and Slovenian side. I'm not trying to discredit you, I'm just saying why the first part of A9 has been built in 2+1 profile
