There are occasional spikes in euroscepticism in Croatia, often centered on issues about the Yugoslavia tribunal in The Hague, but those spikes in scepticism do not seem to be lasting. This will solidify Croatia's position as one of the top holiday destinations in Europe. For instance, tourism in Croatia grew by 10% between 2005 and 2008.

I assume the European Union will give funding mainly for rural regions and infrastructure in border regions. While Croatia has completed its main motorway network, some new connections can be build using EU funding, for instance towards Hungary and maybe Bosnia-Herzegovina in the future. But maybe A1 and A5 will be under construction before Croatia joins the EU.

EU for Croatia or not, I'm for border crossings to be removed.

And I'm almost sure, that after joining EU, EU crossborder iniciatives will help motorway to Dubrovnik to be built.

about funds - i deeply hope they will be cleverly used and focused on rural areas in eastern Croatia (Slavonia) and railroad network. i am totaly offtopic with that, but there is not much to speak about motorways anymore, especially when we look at bad railroad infrastructure.

You might want to re-phrase that, as it sounds like you liked WW2 - perhaps 'since VE day', which would imply the defeat of Nazi Germany.

Personally, I think that while European integration (open borders, free trade) is a good thing, the EU is about ten steps backward rather than a step forward - hastening the decline of Europe with over-regulation (EU figures say that their regulations impede business massively) and crony capitalism. I wouldn't wish this corrupt, quasi-democratic, ideologically authoritarian organisation on my worst enemies.

I heard that probably just about 25% of Croatians would agree.

According to the RTL News Croatia, a new section of Istrian Y will be opened tomorrow: new lane of A9 in direction north from Kanfanar to Plovanija, without Lim and Mirna viaducts. The new lane of A8 in direction west (from Pazin to Kanfanar) will be probably open later this year. The deputy director of BINA-Istra Mr. Aleksa Ladavac has stated, that the company will soon be built missing viaducts in Lim and Mirna valley, also the missing lane from Pazin to Matulji, and that the appropriate hard shoulder will be added on the old (existing) Y lanes, this is, lane of A9 in direction south (from Plovanija to Pula) and lane of A8 in direction east (from Kanfanar to Pazin, later to the west entrance of Učka tunnel). From the east entrance of the tunnel to Matulji the motorway will be entirely new, hence the existing lane will become a regional road.

There has been also stated, that the company expects an average daily traffic of 12 000 vehicles in full season (probably at the A9 part of the Y), that is, from June to September.

I agree with you, but I think that raising the speed limit there is just a wishful thinking.

Or isn't

nakon šest, odnosno 12 mjeseci korištenja, postoji mogućnost podizanja maksimalne dozvoljene brzine kretanja na 130 kilometara na sat.
There's a possibility to rise the limit to 130 km/h after 6/12 months of road usage.

But I don't know the procedure A9 is really straight with clear view, so there won't be a problem if the limit is 130

Isn't that the entire section north of Kanfanar interchange?

Yes it is, but those two larger viaducts will remain 1+1, at least for some more time. Their construction will not go fast. Namely, viaduct Mirna is on horrible wet and swamp terrain (and is quite long) while Limska Draga is 120 m high.

Probably this is temporary operation with 110 km/h. At least until Mirna viaduct they really could raise speed limit to 130 km/h. North of Mirna curves are denser and tighter.

It should be over 1100 because it was over 1200 including expressways. And we don't have much more than 100 km of expressways

According to the Sljeme Local Radio Station, the A9 (new lane with hard shoulder, from Kanfanar to Plovanija in direction Koper, except Lim and Mirna viaducts) has been opened today.
