European funding is a reimbursement, so they need to finance the project first.

I don't think Croatia will get a large share of EU funding for roads like Poland or Hungary received. Maybe just the extensions of A1 and A5 and perhaps A7. Otherwise the network is pretty much completed unless they still want to construct A12 and A13 in central north Croatia.

If we get some money from EU funds, it will probably be used for railway projects because that's our new government's strategy and also EU is more likely to fund that rather than roads. As Chris said, the motorway network is pretty much finished (not just the main routes, but also some non-international, such as A12 (first part), A8 (first 1/3 of the entire length)), A11 (u/c). Apart of the A7, which could become an european route because of its importance in european and croatian context, other important projects are new railway Zagreb-Rijeka (because of the port of Rijeka), construction of the second gauge on section Zagreb-Novska (X corridor), electrification of Ogulin-Split railway, installing signaling equipment on most of railways for speeds of 160 km/h... Our railroad infrastructure is in chaos, because there hasn't been some proper maintenance and reconstructions since YU collapsed (except reconstruction of railways destroyed in war)

Are you sure? Motorway-exitlists.com predicts 06/2012 for A1 till Metkovic interchange (Metkovic to Ploce interchange was already in construction last August with visible progress) and also 06/2012 for D425. Since A10 and southern part of Bosnian A1 are also planned to be finished 12/2012 or 11/2012 (with the latter is confirmed by JP Autoceste FBiH) and considering the visible progress of D425, I think 06/2012 is quite realistic.

http://www.jpautoceste.ba/web/en/sj2.php (Bijaca- Zvirovici is the southern part to the border and Croatian A10)

I guess things have been speeded up again

The route from Doli to Dubrovnik was planned long ago. Afaik all planning work is done and construction works could begin as soon as money for that project is released.

The plans for Metkovic interchange to Slivno are also finished. The problem remains the BiH section (or Pelješac bridge)... I guess the next section to be built will be Metkovic interchange to Opuzen.

It seems that the Adriatic-Ionian motorway has been added on the Trans-European Transport Network, in Greece as a Core Network, while in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro and Albania as a Comprehensive Network:
http://register.consilium.europa.eu/...-ad31.en12.pdf
Interestingly enough, no section is planned through Bosnia except a small part as Neum Corridor.
One interesting bypass: Novo Mesto-Črnomelj, which will in perspective reach Bosiljevo 2 intersection.

There were some announcements that section from Sv.Kuzam to Hreljin will be opened this year (somewhere in summer). Sv.Kuzam is now the last exit on A7, and the next one is Hreljin, which can be seen on pictures above (asphalted section) (http://wikimapia.org/#lat=45.2878652...1&z=16&l=0&m=s), but if so, it won't be of much help since it's not connected to D8, but to D501 which goes through the village and carries lots of vehicles from A6 to D8 during the summer (direction Crikvenica and Krk), so it's not that practical...

You will also like photovoltaic plants on the Italian A22 near Trento.
About caravans: what's weird with them? In summer you see plenty of them in any major European highway leading to the sea.
I guess RV's means recreational vehicles, am I right?

Nice. Is there some kind of pre EU financing for those renewable energy projects, or is it run by Croatia's government? I looked it up on wiki, but there is only 77 mw installed in Croatia, it says.

RV's are camper vans. Pretty much a bus or van were you can sleep in, like a caravan I see them every year when I travel to Scandinavia or France, Italy, Spain etc. But I take it that Croatia has been 'discovered', good Another advantage of an sustainible road network.

RV's in Croatia have been present every summer for as long as I remember (late 70's).

Rijeka - Žuta Lokva delayed "indefinitely"?

http://www.novilist.hr/Vijesti/Hrvat...tunela-Vratnik

Does anyone know will they finish current construction up to some point or will they stop with construction completly and leave started works unfinished?

You must differ those construction works shown on last few pages (A7-Rijeka bypass) with A7 from Rijeka (Križišće) to Žuta Lokva (junction with A1). Those works on Rijeka bypass will continue and will be finished in a year or two, but actually it is an expressway which runs through the city of Rijeka and goes towards Krk island. It temporarily has "A7" designation, until the real A7 motorway is built in the hinterland. Some day in not-so-near future, there will be a junction of A7 motorway ("the real one") and that expressway (today's A7) in Križišće.
The works on A7 motorway haven't started yet, so there are no works which could be stopped.
It's a little bit messy, but I hope you understood the story
