Now i can answer this from the first hand. So after toll booths at Zagvozd there is completely reconstructed 2 lane road without some sharp curves. After some 5-6 km you arrive at toll booths of the tunnel ( unmanned payment only so it lasts a bit more than usually if you don't have enc) and after 1 or 2 km you enter the tunnel which still stinks on fresh paint. after the tunel you have some 4-5 km long 2+2 road with quite some curves. I think that speed limit is 70.

Yup, me and my wife are both EU citizens. I'm thinking that perhaps the fact that I'm a British citizen (and so only had a passport) might have had something to do with it - perhaps they're interpreting the law so that the border can only be crossed by Schengen+HR citizens?

Either way, it was very strange - compared to May, I notice that they aren't really bothering to scan passports anymore - but what I did notice is that they seem much more interested in questioning travellers than before. Perhaps this is because Customs would previously have dealt with anything suspicious, whereas only the police are on the border now?

Interestingly - at Rogatec/Hum na Sutli, I was asked for my driving licence by the SLO guard on exit. That's never happened before on the HR border - even the Croatians have never bothered to ask for my licence despite having made something like 40+ crossings.

No, they should be open for citizens of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland. May I ask, which border crossings you used or tried to use?

PS: was it hot yesterday?

I used (using Slovenian names) - Nova Vas ob Sotli, Stara Vas and Sedlarjevo.

The ones where they let me through (grudgingly) was at Bratkovec (not sure of the name of this crossing) and Rakovec. It was very very clear that they shouldn't be letting me through in those places.

At the three crossings where I was refused, I told them that I was going to somewhere in the nearby area to take pictures - deliberately so that they would offer this card, but no offer was made. It's all very strange, especially as the Slovenian police websites contradicts what they said.

--

As for the weather? Unbelievable But we deliberately planned the trip to end at Terme Catez, which after a long day of exploring was just...perfect

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Split or Zadar from Sofia next month, but I don't know which road I should take. Can I travel through Bosnia with identity card only?

Quick question

Does anyone know how the Neum border crossing was this summer? Was the traffic terrible, or was it not much different to pre-EU times?

To me Neum was like previuos years: very easy, they just let us pass!
Instead I've had unbelievable problems at the SLO/HR border of Stador/Pasjak that I've never experienced in the past: 20km/3h wait way south at the begininnig of august and 7km/1h coming back the 1st of September!
I was so surprised because all websites and forums announced the with entrance of Croatia in the EU all should become easier instead was much wrost!!!!

According to the Croatian newspaper website, an important link will be open soon. It is so called "Velika Gorica Eastern Beltway" in shape of divided higway 2+2, with traffic lights. It will connect cloverleaf intersection Kosnica on A3 with cloverleaf intersection Velika Gorica on A11 and will be connecting new Zagreb Airport Terminal after its completion in 2016.

Once again I saw undercover police pulling someone over on A1, the policemen drove an old black Mercedes. I'm wondering, how frequent are patrols on Croatian motorways and do they all use older Mercedes models (because when I saw them previously it was the same car)?

here you have all of them
the car depends about area where they patrol

and yes, they are quite often.
