I'm planing to go to Međugorje again after long time

Is it faster when I'm driving
Zadar - Imotski - GP Crveni Grm - Ljubuški - Međugorje
Or
Zadar - Metković (A10) - GP Nova Sela - Bijača - Međugorje?

Second one for sure, there are too many towns and villages with first option.

I was looking at Google Street View a little. Does anyone else think that Croatian roads are better than Slovenian?

you made me thinking about it, but generally i would agree.
motorways/expressways - i prefer SLO. our maybe are visually better, but comparing SLO and HR the first thing that i think about are safety barriers - our are (mostly) crap that is installed only for aesthetics, and your are strong and really have purpose.

state roads - HR beats you here. although you can find crappy sections here too, generally speaking HR has much better state roads.

local roads - tie. crap on the both sides.

Hmm, didn't you once say that our motorways are visually better? I mean that they make them look nicer with everything around. I think you specifically compared both sides of the Macelj/Gruškovje border crossing (although motorway is very short on our side ).

I'm not sure about local roads either, but you're probably right about main roads. Looking at street view, they seem to be much better, as you say. Ours are "drivable", but neglected and ugly.

Last week i was driving from Rijeka towards Slovenian border. And then i decided to go via Pasjak-Starod for the first time and i had trouble finding the right way. There is just Trieste sign and SLO sign just in direction Rupa. But then i remember that border crossing Starod is more in Trieste direction so i drove streith ahead and fortunately it was the right way.

Why there is just sign for Trieste and Italy and no sign for Slovenia?

Because Trieste is enough. They could sign "Trieste (I) (SLO)" though.

Italians will complain
Few years ago there was just Trst on A7, now they added Trieste.

I meant that yours are at higher quality level, but I find our signs and equipment better (except those cool blue overhead panels in slo which are the fanciest thing ever )

You're right, our signs are still from times of Yugoslavia.

also, we have some extraordinary state (D) roads. for instance this one
https://maps.google.hr/?ll=45.523247...00.91,,0,-0.42
it's D34, so it is even not the lowest grade of state roads (three digit) but medium (two digit)

or D26:
https://maps.google.hr/?ll=45.637027...2,8.5,,0,-2.55
i have never understood why somebody had need to make state road at that route (i think it also has some unpaved sections)

however, if somebody has chance to drive D34 over Papuk, i would suggest it, it is really nice area
