Was this approach built recently or together with the rest of the A5 years ago?

What route would you choose, coming north of Ljubljana towards Trogir?

1. http://goo.gl/maps/E34a4 (route Zagreb-Zadar I should have already driven)
2. http://goo.gl/maps/yr4tS (route Ljubljana-Rijeka I have already driven)
3. http://goo.gl/maps/iqCKa

Drive Ljubljana - Novo Mesto - Zagreb and exit Prgomet it's the fastest route.

But if you want more "panorama" drive over the "Jadranska Magistrala" (Rijeka, Senj...). But the asphalt isn't the very best there.

It will be a quite long journey from Ingolstadt to Trogir.

I was just wondering if taking another route then to fastest (which should obviously be the first one), would cost me to much time, while also changing the scenery a bit. I've driven from Ljubljana to Rijeka in 2012, it was ok, I guess, but from there I went towards Pula on the east coast.

As x-Type said the D8 will feel like a Formula1 circuit but the scenery is beautiful, so it is also on the A1 when you pass Sveti Rok near Velebit, but I think you already know that ;-)

Could be, this was asked before here...

Can you pay with credit card at ENC toll booths?
On most of the toll booths I only saw either regular men operated ones or ENC.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I've always paid by card at the regular manned booths.

I don't know for sure, but on HAC (A1, A3, A4, A5, A10) and ARZ (A1, A6, A7, Krk bridge) there are no toll booths for paying only with credit cards, except Demerje automatized toll station and possible at new Ježevo toll station (a replacement for Ivanja Reka demolished toll station). You should pay at regular booths and the process is not self-serviced.
Contrary, on AZM (A2) there are self-serviced toll booths for credit cards only, at least at the beginning (Zaprešić) and the end (Macelj).
On BINA-Istra (A8, A9) there is a possibility of self-service for credit cards at their ENC booths, at least at Buzet (the end) and Višnjan toll booths.

I have another question, from Rijeka to National Park Krka, taking the D8 all the way to Maslenice, is it much slower then taking the A1 from Senj? Google Maps says it's only 4 minutes slower...

The D8 is a really curvy street and the asphalt is not the best there. I wouldn't take it unless you want to see a really beautiful scenery.

you will save cca 20-30 min using the A1.
D8 is excellent and fun to drive if there is no high traffic. but if there is lots of traffic, it is not the best option. and i wouldn't say that it is bad. it's been completely refurbished several years ago (look at Street View imagery), it couldn't be so torn in that time.

I would drive there on 21 May, that's a Wednesday.
I will think about it. 20-30 minutes is something, I will get more time for Krka and maybe Trogir in the evening.

So far I have seen these would be the options from Rijeka:
1. A7-D8-D23-A1 - 287 km - http://goo.gl/maps/IOYJF
2. A6-A1 - 326 km - http://goo.gl/maps/L0ySp
3. D8 - A1 (Maslenice) - 270 km - http://goo.gl/maps/sZbSD

Ah yes, all of them are equipped in that way. All you do is insert the card and then take it out, no need to input a PIN or anything.

I always enter/leave at Durmanec ever since figuring out that the tolling isn't quite based on distance travelled. It takes about 45 seconds to leave and re-enter the motorway, and is well worth it

(for those not in the know - Macelj-Zapresic is 48 Kuna. Macelj-Durmanec is 5 Kuna and Durmanec-Zapresic is 27 Kuna. It's a difference of 15 Kuna, or 2 Euro. There's never a queue at Durmanec toll plaza, so you just exit, pay by credit card, then turn around straight after the toll plaza and re-enter the motorway. Takes about 45 seconds or so - and is well worth doing.)
