Use banks. They usually offer better rate then exchange office. You have to wait longer but you wont get robbed

The easiest way is to withdraw the money from ATM

42 kuna from Hungarian border to Dugo Selo. Not quite a cheap motorway. However I would not have anything against it if it were not restricted to 100 because of poor surface quality for a length of approx. 25 km.
A little bit annoying for a well paid road.

that's medium rate. he's gonna buy euros here, so it is 7,54 kn for 1€ in most of the banks.
good thing here is that one can exchange money in banks, unlike Poland where people in bank looked me weird when i came to sell them 100€.
one more thing about exchange rates in Croatia: mostly exchange offices don't have large variations in rates. in Poland i have recently seen exchange offiices at few hunderds metres far one from the other, rates were more over 10% different (403 zł and 416 zł for 100€). i haven't notced that here.

Thanks, that advice is invaluable!

In Poland, the usual thing is to negotiate like hell - but you're right, the variation on rates is sometimes absurd. I can go to an exchange office in the centre of Poznan and pay around 4.20zl for one Euro, but then an exchange office in the centre of Wroclaw - 4.16zl. No logic at all. But no-one would exchange money in banks here, so no wonder they looked at you funny

Do the banks charge commission?

Erste Bank tends to have the best exchange rate for EUR/HRK, try to avoid the local PBZ and OTP banks, their rates are much worse. Erste is also commission-free.

And don't go to exchange offices...

If you need kunas on a Sunday (let's say you arrive in Croatia on Sunday when banks are closed) you could always pay with e.g. a € 20 bill at a toll station (haven't tried € 50 yet). The exchange rate you get from Hrvatske Autoceste (the toll operator) is actually quite good and without commission.

i confirm that. Erste takes no commission charge. i always use their service. Raiffeisen neither takes it.
sometimes i feel that exchange offices maybe have better rate, but it is miserably better, and in bank you are always safe to get the rate that is the closest one to Croatian National Bank rate. and exchange rate at motorways is good, but banks are always safer.

(btw that differenc of 4 zł is small - i was not joking about 403 and 416 (maybe it was even 418) rates in Kraków around main square)

I for example am a client of Unicredit Group (HypoVereinsbank in Germany, Bank Austria in Austria, Zagrebacka banka in Croatia, Bank Pekao SA in Poland).
This means, if I withdraw in any country from an ATM of theirs, there is no commission.

Terrible news first:

The Pelješki most project is now basically dead. It is no longer included in Croatia's EU fund budget plan that is valid until 2023. The project is not even mentioned anywhere in the newly released budget plan.

Brussels claims that there would be not enough traffic.

What's even more surprising is the fact that the bridge over the Sava river that is supposed to connect Croatian A3 with the E-661 motorway in Republika Srpska (BiH) at Gradiška will be built instead.

Other plans include the widening of A1 Zagreb-Karlovac to 2x3 lanes, D403 in Rijeka and A5 Beli Manastir-Osijek (the European corridor Vc).

The latter was also long believed dead...

Nothing stands in the way of Croatia financing the Pelješac Bridge on its own. But EU funding would have expedited the project.

That bridge is a waste of money, so I'm glad the EU won't have anything to do with it.

They should do at least something to extend A1 to Dubrovnik. Left or right.
