Thanks. One more question. Are there heavy traffic jams at Lučko toll station direction southbound on Saturday afternoon?

Yes there are. Do not use Zagreb bypass at that time. It i faster if you go throu the City. And actually you can avoid most of jams that way

If BiH ever build highway Gradiška - Banja Luka - Livno - Croatian border, that will be a good alternative to Croatian A1 in summer months for travelin' to central and south Dalmatia.

Gradiška - Banja Luka are already built; now we, in Republic of Srpska, looking for money to build Banja Luka - Mrkonjić Grad section.

Croatian government was, in the beginning, supportive for this project, but in the last couple years they trying to sabotage this highway. Bridge over river Sava was agreed, than wasn't, and now, after ten years, he is agreed again. Supposedly.

Anyway, here are some maps with proposed route (from old newspaper articles):

Blue line!

there is absolutely no need for alternative route for A1, but only bypass for toll barrier at Lučko, which makes problems.

If they want to build it, why not? It will be the fastest route to Split and central Dalmatia for the entire western Bosnia, Hungary, Slovakia...

Even now I would prefer road to croatian mid south and south seacoast through BiH. 2 extra BC is nothing if I have to stay few hours b/n Slovenia and Croatia. What`s more, I`d spent less money for fuel and road payment. Good and cheap accommodation and restaurants on the way, as well as brilliant landscapes

I guess western Bosnians want to connect with Split and the A1 motorway. Is Split an interesting port for western Bosnians or they only care about Ploče?

only Ploče. Split is primary passenger port, very low amounts of cargo goes there.

Neither. For western Bosnia, most important sea port is Port of Koper. Split are useless port, and Ploče are too far for this level of road communications. Railways included.

So why then build an expensive motorway through Bosnian mountains to Split if it would be used only 2 months a year? Would your Chinese friends allow themselves such a waste of money to finance this unimportant and unnecessary toll road?

Ok, you may better stick with Koper, it's your choice. However the timing of connecting your motorway from Sava river to Banja Luka with Croatian A3 is and will be only in Croatian hands.

In fact, I like these wannabe plans and presentations of Serbian and Republic of Srpska Authorities very much. Only wannabe motorways without context at all. Grafic layout is similar to the old Yugoslav plans from 1970s. Remind me to the Communist past. Probably your friends from former Eastern European Communist countries enjoy in them too.

However, most of people from former Western European countries would rather wait a couple of hours on congested Croatian motorways than drive through it's fair to say common Bosnian roads with speed limits of 50 kmh in every village and Bosnian police force eager to enforce these limits brutally.

what is wrong with you two? if BIH decides to build that motorway, great thing!
would it attract more traffic than A1 in HR? thing for discussion. one thing is sure - it would not be toll free. let's say that if it is more reasonable to import goods to BIH via port of Koper instead of nearer ports, then analogously majority of traffic would stay on HR side.

Ok, I'm surprised. What about Rijeka?

There is nothing to say about Rijeka. Koper are big hub for imported goods, and we mostly importing stuff. Our export are small (mostly agricultural products), and isn't exported to overseas countries. Sad (for us), but true.

Canton 10 (Croatian canton in Federation of BiH) are interested to build their part of this route (here is Filip Vujeva, former director of state ownded company "Ceste FBiH" (Roads of Federation of BiH), talking (on Croatian language, sorry) about this highway/motorway (BH Croats wants to build motorway instead of building a highway), from 1:15:

Also, there is this video, made by Federation state roads company:

At the end, we will see what and when will be built: Zagreb and Sarajevo are contra this route, Banja Luka and Mostar are pro.
