Decide? It's already decided, and being built too.

well everyone that knows something about traffic and main transit routes in Europe, knows that 2011. is just too far away and very disrespectful towards Croatia as well as rest of Europe that travels on that corridor...

i'm curious how will be traffic flow this year when tourist season starts... situation isn't better in Croatia, but that section in Slovenia will be nice...

This road has far less traffic than many other roads in Slovenia. It only becomes important in summer and holidays, otherwise no one cares about it. You, with not having heard of its construction being decided, let alone built, only prove it.

you know that your statement isn't quite accurate too...

lots of ex-yugoslavian people work in western countries like austria and germany, they use that corridor cause it's the fastest way to get home... then other eastern countries, like bulgaria, romania and turkey have also people that travels this way toward east... and lots of trucks transport goods over that road too...

route is an important part of pan-european network of corridors and even Europe recognize it as such by number 10a...

no offence taken, but you can admit that Slovenia should have built that highway towards Macelj a long long time ago...

yes it's true that lots of ex-yugo people use this corridor, but lots of that people use corridor through Karavanke. But for Slovenia it is more important to biuld axes Koper-Ljubljana-Šentilj/Lendava and Karavanke-Ljubljana-Obrežje first, which are also pan-european corridors 5 and 10. And faaaar more trucks use Italy-Ljubljana-Hungary, on slovenian thread there was a document about this.
no offence, but each country has it's own priorities, what should be biult first, and construction of the 10a is already taking place.

agreed that every country has their own priorities... and for sure there are lots of cargo traffic on those directions...
but from our point of view, it seems that you intentionally 'forget' about this corridor...
croatia also build lots of highways throughout country, and in many directions at once... and it's true that slovenia has more money than us... so they could build highways on more sides at once...

there is also a different part... that regional road goes through your populated places, most of them doesn't have sidewalks, and there is safer perspective for your residents there too...

and this plan above till 2011 just seems too far... :-/

Just one remark if I may. I've been travelling through stretches of the new highways since 1998 (pretty much deserted back than) and I regularly use the almost complete network today....

The corrido 5 traffic has grown enormous and we start seeing some congenstion. The vinjeta thing everyboty hates has brought some release anyway (even though trying to ticket people for wrong vinjeta position is a bit of an irritating ripoff) Traffic now flows freely in Kompolje which is good but I feel it's just a matter of a short time until congestion comes back to stay.

Since it's a brand new network and since I think EU funding was involved...couldn't it be 3x3 everywhere since the beginning?

road goes through populated places only from Maribor to Ptuj and from march the traffic will be diverted on a new highway

Of course I can't talk in the name of our government, but as far as I'm concerned, I have no reason to block Croatia's road links with Austria (or Italy). You only see those links which don't have much traffic, like Rijeka - Trieste or Krapina - Ptuj. What about others, like Zagreb - Villach or Zagreb - Trieste? No one's blocking you here.

Yes, but Croatia has therefore much debt. No other country has done it like Croatia, so you can't really blame Slovenia here; you're just special about constructing motorways. If you look at other post-communist countries, they don't even come near us both.

Kompolje, eh? You're really familiar with these places, aren't you? It was decided that you can have vignette anywhere. And about 3+3: I think the biggest problem are countless trucks. If we can get those off our roads, 2+2 will be just fine.

again not completely true statement. everybody knows that Pyhrn route takes more traffic than Tauern. not much more, but transit traffic at Tauern route is falling while Pyhrn is raising.

true... i could be a little bit subjective... i travel a lot towards Austria... my dad works in Vienna for 18 years so he too is a traveler on that route...

we can say that traffic through Slovenia is vital for Croatia too, and directions of highways you make directly affect our traffic...
and border crossings on other exits aren't that much congested as they know to happen on Macelj... and that congestion does come from not having highway there...

we are intelligent, at least on this forum... so we don't have personal reasons to make any life harder... we are just here to discuss highways and being neighbours on a little territory only adds that we have to respect and help each other...
