A very nice project started today, the reformation of Faliron Bay in Athens. The first phase will be completed in 21 months and includes (among others) the shifting of the coastal avenue Poseidonos Avenue to the sea, where in some places it will "sink".

The area how it is nowadays

This one is even better. I've had to change zoom to see new highways on OSM. Normally, they are often invisible.

Maliakos detour , my proposal

Knowing and considering the fact that Greece has been having big issues into completing highways in the easy way due to burocracy and the current, ongoing , economic crisis , i would like to share with you my proposal for the Maliako's detour

and here is the actual route that everybody has to take from Athens in order to travel to Northern Greece

and what they save

As my conclusion is a very important and crucial investment because
1. you shorten the distance up to 60 km
2. avaliable route between central and northern Greece
3. connecting through highway system the " isolated" and poorly invested northern Evia island
4. you have the ability through the higway/expressway towards Pefko to create the opportunity for a further investment into creating and upgrading the port of Pefko ( is very near to Skiathos Skopelos island. in this case the current Port that the population is using from South central Greece of Agios Konstantinos would be moved into Pefko where is open sea and is better located towards those islands( islands with very high touristic value) . Furthermore by relocating the Port , Agios Konstantinos it would create positive ecological impact, since is very near to the protected area of LIchadonisia and due to the specifics of the gulf's characteristics there, promoting in that way the trully magnificent and unique ecosystem in the region of Kammena Vourla -Agios Konstantinos
5.you create the opportunity to boost the creation of a highway between that part of Evia and chalkida
6.also connecting Central Greece with Edipsos touristic place and offering an alternative for the current ferry boat service ( which is also great )
the depth of the sea in that area is between 60 meters ( the south part ) and 50 meters the north part

They will save approx 45 km if they will connect E65 (Loutra Kaitsis) to Larissa. No need for huge investments.

please review again what i wrote. this potential construction it has multiple assets and there is not any kind of highway projected for the next decade between lamia and larisa since they consider already that the A1 is a direct road from lamia to Larissa, E65 a low success infrastructure due to low traffic . they have done this road just for helping the Thessalic plain and a potential connection with Grevena kastoria and Florina with Bitola and prilep corridor.
This one is for the traffic that most of the people are using from Athens and south Greece towards North and central Greece. Also connects the northern part of Evia that is isolated and has limited access with the continental part of Greece through two Ferry services :Agiokampos-glyfas and Arkitsa-Edipsos
Everybody in the region are asking why they didnt do that yet but some of the locals they dont like that because they think that Lamia will lose its strategic importance ( thing that is false because Lamia even with this detour still can maintain its strategic place for further expansion of highway network)
and if we assume that it could be an eventual highway fro that point to Larissa ,then geometrically speaking and by distance covered , if we let two cars to start from that point i pinpointed on the gmaps one towards the proposed one and one towards the Loutra Kaitsis , by the time the car A arrives to the Loutra Kaitsis , the car B would be already near Killeler exit

The missing part of A25 (or A24 - the Halkidiki speedway) between the intersection Nea Moudania and the bridge Nea Potidea is almost ready - 2*2 lanes with safety barrier between them.
But: except the last 800 meters to the bridge

The western part is ready. But the traffic lights near Jumbo and the intersection Serres/Bulgaria still remain.

According to the official website of Egnatia Odos S.A., the inauguration of the last section of A25 will be taking place sometime this week.

Only the 2*2 road from Sidirocastro to Kato Christos remains in poor condition. This will be the final segment to be renovated. Maybe after that the speed limit will be changed from 90 km/h to 110 km/h.

Yes, that section is in a very poor condition but at least it doesn't have in-level intersections...

I hope that they will be renovating it during the winter...

That proposal of yours would not happen because all plan is too expensive to happen, in this difficult time.
