where?i drove there and didn't saw any tunnel of more than 2km.probably u are reffering to the sum of all tunnels on haemus.i think the tunnel on tembi valley will be the longest in the balkans, because the one on durres-kukes motorway is also just between 5 and 6km long, like the croatian ones.on romanian motorways there is also a tunnel planned of more than 5km on pitesti-sibiu section of a1.hopefully it will be in use before 2015.

Have a look at www.motorways-exitlists.com

I have sent the details to Michal personally after looking at the relevant Government Paper Publication. Unfortunately the pdf file with the map that contains the numbers was scaled down and it is a bit unclear as far as the three digit numbers are concerned (with the exception of A642) but I am trying to find all the details.

It will also take some time to implement the system on all Greek motorways and also replace a lot of signs as the latest signing guidelines require to show the letter "A" in front of the motorway number and also to use small letters for the places shownon signs!

My Favourite is the pic with Tunnel on Katerini, on right is the Mountain Olympos.
I get "service unavailable". Is there anywhere else I can get info and photos on this route?

EDIT: It works now.

The scenery is just epic, what else can I say. An ecoduct or two along the route and it would be excellent .

I think it's actually the most tunneled-in motorway of Europe after some Italian motorways. So there isn't really a need for an ecoduct I guess

Egnatia: They have to connect it with the Albanian roads and motorways. So they'll have a motorway connection with Croatia and Central Europe. Now, only vehicles going to the ferries are using this part of the A2.

I think the main reason why Greece is building so many motorways at the moment is traffic safety and economic development, not really for the traffic volumes, which are too low to sustain a full-size motorway. However, it reduces travel time significantly in the mountainous areas of Greece. Before the A2 was build, the travel time between Igoumenitsa and the Turkish border was at least a whole day, easily 11 - 12 hours. With the motorway completed, this can be done in about 6 -7 hours. Currently, spurs off the A2 are being build to the borders of Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria.

Ok. Maybe that works here. In general it also needs to be considered what is situated on those mountains and hills, wildlife overpasses need to be placed at a location where they actually come to use.

Hi everybody

Can you please advise which route should be best to follow from Kulata border point up to Preveza?
Are there any newly open highway sections along Egnatia Odos? Will there be any new sections of Egnatia Odos which will be opened until June?Because as far as I know the Egnatia Odos highway goes only up to Grevena + another section from Ioannina up to Igoumenitsa. If I'm not right, please correct me
