Who was the last time this way - Promachonas-Thessaloniki? Of the 96 km of highway how many kilometers are in service and can use the highway (2 * 2)?

Thanks so much for information!
Of the 96 km is approximately 70 km highway......

Hello..
Anybody from Greece can say which is the longest tunnel of Greece builded, or if is still under construction, or if is in projects ???

Albania and Croatia so far have the longest TUNNELS in Balkans...
Albanian Tunnel connection with kosovo is 5700 metters long while Croatia has 2 Tunnels... 1) Sveti Rok 5680 metters long and 2) Mala Kapela 5750 metters long....

The longest tunnel in Greece will be in Tempi on the A1 - it is under construction and will be 5500m long. At the moment the longest tunnel is at Driskos on the A2; one tube is 4581m long and the other 4563m long.

Other notable tunnels are at Metsovo (one tube 3589m and the other 3548m) and Dodoni (both tubes 3347m); both are on the A2. Also the under construction Panagopoula Tunnel on the A8 will have two tubes of 4018 and 3182m.

I hope this helps.

Thanx...
So as far as I can see the longest tunnels belong to Croatia & Albania in Balkans, but of course, Greece has the largest part in High ways, from Alexandropouli until Igoumenitsa..
1) Mala-Kapela in Croatia 5750 metters long.
2) Thirre-Kalimashi in Albania 5700 metters long.
3) Sveti Rok in Croatia 5680 metters long..
4) and fourth Tempi 5500 metters long..

Still, to break tunnel record is NOT so good anymore these days, needs a lot of care and lots of equipments, Kameras, lots of power in light and Respirators, and the whole water Anti-Fire system..

I don't know about Croatia and Tempi but the tunnel of Albania (both of them of each direction) costed dozens of money, it has also Anti-Fire in both tunnels, like the new buildings.. in case of fire they automatically switch on...
But still, was very needed, not only for people in Kosovo but also for Skopje and South Serbia (city of NISH), to have access at the Adriatic sea.. (Dyrraxio port)..

In Autumn unfortunately our Tunnel will be with payment, 2 Euro cars, 4 Euro vans and 8 Euro Buses and Trucks...
I am sorry to hear EGNATIA Odos will be with payment too but all those high Ways need MAINTENANCE so we must be cotient about the payment..
I just hope the payment at Egnatia Odos will be Symbolic, like our Tunnel 2 euro for cars return pass, which is 1 euro One Way..

Tempi tunnel will be indeed one of the longest tunnels in Greece. BTW, do you have any information about the distance of the tunnels in u/c motorway Lamia > Trikala? The tunnels will be constructed probably between Lamia and Domokos...

So far Driskos is the longest tunnel in the country with 4.5 km

Now, from those who are U/C we have:

Highway Tunnels

- Tempi valley tunnel 6.1 km

Quote:

Quote:
The work comprises the construction of a new 25 kilometer long section of road with a total of three twin-tube tunnels, 26 bridges and ten service stations. One of the tunnels is six kilometers in length, making it the longest in the whole of Greece.

===================================================

Railway Tunnels

- Kallidromos Tunnel 9,035 km

Quote:
Includes 2 twin tunnels, 9,035 km. each, 18,070 km. total.

Those infos of the Tempi tunnel length in my previous post are from the construction companies who are building the Tempi tunnel.

Btw, in your 2nd link (the one from the newspaper) it also says its 6km long.

Tunnels cost a lot of money! Ofcourse all Greek roads are built to EU standards meaning anti-fire and technologies in their constructions. PS, Kallidromos tunnel at 9,035km that would be an amazing tunnel!!

That's the idea. It's part of the so-called Adriatic-Ionian corridor that provides a motorway along the coast of the Adriatic and and Ionian seas. Croatia has advanced furthest with it, and it seems that planning of it is most advanced in Greece, then Albania and lastly Montenegro (which has more important priorities).
