The link has a problem although the site is OK.

Go to www.ypodomes.com --> Αυτοκινητόδρομοι --> Εγνατία Οδός --> Up to now it is the second link (posted on 2011-10-24 09:50:33).

The article and the map refer to the whole section, but I still doubt it. Some of it was already opened before as I have stated in a previous message.

Definitely. This Google Earth image is from March 29th, 2010 (one and a half year ago) and it shows traffic. In fact, I think the whole section between A2 and north of Assiros was open by that time. I even tend to think the section opened recently is not much more than a few kilometers between Assiros and the existing dual carriageway Route 12.

In fact, just the last 4km were given into traffic, but the (desperate) minister announced that they opened the full 30km of the section. The 26km were open to traffic almost two years ago.

Politicians...

Has someone knows the last news about A3 in Central Greece? Any new progress there?

Not so good news for A3.
They consider the possibility to cut the last part "Kalampaka - A2”, so the contraction works can begin again.

Also, in Olymbia Odos (A8/A5) (Athens-Patra-Pyrgos-Tsakona), they want to cut the rest of the road after Patra (A5 part).

Take a look at this: http://www.ypodomes.com/show_newsid.php?news_id=8778

I am interested in the portion of the highway A25: Promahonas - Lefkonas - Thessaloniki. In this section how many kilometers of highway are given in use?

Things on the northern section of the A25 (as it continues south of Thessaloniki up to Nea Moudania) are as follows:

Derveni - Lahanas - Riziana (35km) --> Open to traffic
Riziana-Strymoniko (8km) --> Open to traffic but needs upgrading to motorway standards
Strymoniko - Lefkonas - Hristos (22km) --> Under construction
Hristos - Sidirokastro (10km) --> Open to traffic but needs uprading to motorway standards
Sidirokastro - Neo Petritsi (9km) --> Under construction
Neo Petritsi - Promahonas (BG border) (12km) --> Οpen to traffic

A few questions.

1) What is the current status of the upgrade of national road 1 to A1 near Lamia? Google Earth 2010 imagery shows it U/C. It's only a few kilometers.

2) What is the current status of A3 construction? It is visible in Google Earth as the southern / western bypass of Lamia.

3) What is the status of A1 around Stylida? Google Earth shows a new alignment U/C.

4) What is the status of A1 through the Tempe Valley. Is any construction going on there?

5) Are they currently working on A5 along the west coast or is it all suspended?

6) Is A71 Tripoli - Sparta still under construction?

7) Is A7 Tripolis - Megalopolis completed?

Hello to all!
I am a new guy in the forum!
@ChrisZwolle.
Unfortunatelly, there are not recent developments in constraction works of Greek highways.
This is due to the problem of the banks, that finance those works.
So if you add that to the recent economical problems, it stalled all th progress.
Recently, the Greek minister of the economics, get the word from the council of ministers and the new prime minister, to start negotiate again with the banks and the constraction companies, in order the works to start again.
I have to say, that i don't know for sure if some works are still active, but the majority is put to a hold.

@ ChrisZwolle

1) The project has stoped due to funding issues from the goverment

2) Funding has been secured recently but i dont know when they will start working again

3) The project has stoped due to funding issues from the goverment

4) The project is advancing very fast and recently the have completed the the longest road tunnel in Greece,

5) Its all suspended but as far as i know there have been talks with the banks to restart the construction.

6) Yes and it will be completed late 2012 ( The route is from Megalopolis - Sparta following Eurotas river )

7) The part between Tripolis - Megalopolis (Paradeisia) has opened 1 year ago ( you can see photos i ve taken at previous pages). One of the hardest technical parts of the motorway is Paradeisia - Filia. In 2001 they oppened some short of dual carriege way but 6 months later the road closed due to land slide. Now they have reconstructed the whole route with a new 600m Cable stayed bridge.
The section between Filia and Kalamata is already complete and the whole route to Megalopolis is expected to be given to traffic with a small bypass at the bridge on Easter.

The GPS screen and the traffic lights at the start of the journey (between minutew 2 and 3) and the blue milestones on the motorway indicate that the video has been filmed in Spain. Somebody on Youtube has indicated the Greek A2 but he is wrong.

I think it may be the new Spanish AP-46 near Malaga.

If they upgrade the eastern part of the Thessaloniki Inner Ring Road as shown in the video, would they still need to construct the Outer Ring Road?

I think that both projects would be too much.

Some construction pictures of the A7, the motorway running through the Peloponnese. Construction of this part of the A7 is almost completed and will probably be opened for traffic in the next couple of months. The pictures were taken by stadia.gr member vas8.
