Sorry for the off-topic, but I have to ask: Why are these hills around the motorway not reforested?

All the parts will be reforested by the company which operates the road.
You cannot see large plants on these photos due to that they have been taken when these parts were brand new and opened to traffic, several months ago.

If you pay attention on some of these photos you will notice that there have already been planted some new plants.
For example, look closely these photos:

I don't mean the area around the motorways disturbed by the construction, but the hills further out.

Trees wouldn't grow. This is Mediterranean climate.

Considering how many forest fires are there in Greece and Southern Europe in general during hot summers, and how hard they are to put out, I'd say planting more trees isn't as good an idea as it first appears.

The most anticipated road in the region is now reality after many years. Right now i am in Kalamata drinking coffee and i am writing for my laptop . The new road is 25 km long and another 15 km are expected to open in 1-2 months.

Unfortunately i forgot to bring my camera so i wont be able to post pictures of the new road.

The only 80 km/h signs that i noticed was one located before the tolls, and accompanied by an overtake forbidden sign for obvious reasons, and another before the tunnel entrance.

The general limit on such roads is 130 km/h.

Moreas Motorway has made a lot of work in order to finish their awarded projects (A7 & A71). In contrast, Olympia Odos (A8 & A5 south of Patra) have NOT completed a single METRE of road, but still they are keen to increase the toll prices on a frequent basis according to their contract (and allowance to do so) with the State.

It is the new alignment of NR9a in order to get connected to the A7. This section is planned to be part of the A5, but it is a bit doubtful nowadays that the A5 will continue south of Pyrgos.

Is there an official prefix for Greek national roads? I've read NR, GR, N, etc.

In Greek it is EO (Ethniki Odos) and this is used officially (for example in the Government Gazette or other government publications), but as people do not use (or even know) much about road numbers they tend not to use them at all (they prefer to say National Road from A-City to B-City). Even TV, radio and newspapers follow this way.

EO is translated as NR (National Road), and apart from those I have mentioned before, this is not shown on signs (only the A prefix on motorways is or should be shown).
