I dont like it either, but it could be something shocking like pyramid in Louvre, so it can attract the tourists more than conventional style buildings.

wow, in itself its an amazing building! But I have a feeling that square is too small for that building. Imho it would have a much greater effect if it was built in some modern part of Budapest and create a Budapest version of La Defénse in Paris.

build it undeground!!! We do it in Bratislava very often, Ursulinska Street, Hviezdoslavovo Square, Benka Square, and you hardly notice there is a parking complex there!

Looks amazing.

BTW, ORCO Property Group are also planning a 200 million + euro project for Zagreb Croatia. Last week they arrived in the city with international architect Daniel Libeskind to examine locations in Zagreb for a monumental project. Libeskind is the architect behind the WTC project in New York and also the Berlin Jewish Museum.

Do you guys have more info on the above project for Budapest. Is it approved? When was it first announced? Thanks.

With this project, Orco intends to replace an obsolete and unattractive 1970s parking garage with a striking new office and parking facility worthy of the district’s rich early 20th century architectural heritage. The concept and design will come from the innovative mind of Zaha Hadid((Iraqi-British deconstructivist architect), a groundbreaking architect and recent winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize, and her Hungarian partner László Váncza. Her works can be seen in London and several major American cities and throughout the world.
Construction start IV.Q 2007
Completion / Delivery II.Q 2009

We have plenty of parking-places built underground already, especially in the downtown area, and they are planning to build up to 5000 new parking-places alone in the 5th and 8th districts until 2017 as the part of the "Heart of Budapest" - program.

BTW I don't really understand ORCO... Why are they hangin' on to the idea to build a parking-complex above ground. Ok. the current building is a parking-complex, but its a highly valuable piece of estate. Build a 5* Hotel, a mall or an A category office building, and under it a 500 capacity parking-complex...

I checked the website of the Orco Property Group, and I was wrong, they are going to build an office building, not just the parking-complex...

But under the Szervita Square project link, I found these pictures:

Probably this was the older variation on this theme... I hope... This one is worse for this location...
