This could've been an A-road imo. Only the shoulders are a bit narrow at times, but that happens in many countries.

Sorry sir. Not here.

But I can confirm the road is indeed good for 140 km/h.

Well, not everything which is dual carriageway with flyovers could be A-road. There are lots of hills and curves making that road dangerous with speed over 110 km/h. I think it's optimal limit there.

This used to be a simple cloverleaf. They decided to upgrade the interchange to accomodate it to high traffic volumes, possibly the highest in Poland.

Each time i'm passing through Sośnica interchange it blows my mind, when i think about size of the construction site, but air-photos double impact of everthing. Great photos.

It is big construction site and quite complicated with A4 (heavy traffic) and DK44 running through middle of it.
Aerial photos are great. Thanks.

But looking at them you can see there is still a lot to do. According to plans this junction should be open around November (if I remember correctly).
I think it is almost impossible.

Chris, this has been talked about numerous times.

IMHO it's actually better that way - they will remain toll-free, and sooner or later map editors will make them the same color as A in Germany or Netherlands.

And the speed limit is 120 starting from the next year, so it's practically 130

But still I think they should rename all 2x2 S roads to A, obviously with lower speed limits on some sections, guaranteeing they will be toll-free.

Isn't that what the government wants? Tolled motorways?

But not all A roads have to be tolled. A18 and A6 are not, and won't be.
The other way round, it's not stated anywhere that S roads cannot be tolled too.

The whole thinking tolled A/free S is only misinterpretation of the law.

Today in Lithuanian business newspaper I saw article, that contract of A2 motorway was signed. They will finish construction of missing parts from Warsaw to German border till 2012 and estime of 106 km long construction is 1.5 billion EUR. Company, which will do works is austrian company, called "Strabag".

Austrians have some S-motorways, just because of NIMBYs ("A" sounds horrible to them).

Great pictures of S1, Ripley, I like those slopes here and there.

In Germany as well. What was supposed to be the A36 is now called B6n, but it's just a normal motorway
