In other parts of Europe village life doesn't mean "no civilization".

But I digress, Geneve is much more important than Berlin, and Bonn is much more liveable than London. Following the lines, Łódź is much less important than Poznań. In all those examples the first is larger than the latter.

I don't care about Soviet tradititions etc. Łódź is a major city 110 km away from Warsaw near A2 which is part of Łódź ring road, why not just sign it then ?

But I suppose for some it's easier to follow that manner Poznań is on DK2 route in general

Well you see, Łódź is rather avoided on A2 signs, because DK2 don't go through Łódź, but there is plenty of Łódź on A1 though

A4 Zgorzelec-Krzyżowa will be opened 8th August
Drove alongside yesterday, it looks pristine and ready to go. i expect to save 45 minutes from Zgorzelec - Krzyżowa once it opens

Yes, Krakow is the second largest city in Poland. Lodz has a serious problem with depopulation and it' s not the process of deglomeration that people move to suburbs.

Permanent process of depopulation take into account all Lodz region in contrast to Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw which are still growing (in their metropolitan or urban areas)

It might not be so funny if Kraków passed up Warsaw.

Yeah, it's funny but true. No Łódź on weather maps.

Fine, but noone is saying that there should be no Poznań on the signs. It is indeed more important than Łódź, but they can as well appear together, can't they?

Current stats:

There are 640 km of highways and expressways currently under construction in Poland.

News:

Some municipalities in Lower Silesia are testing rubber mixed in with asphalt. This technology has been used quite extensively in the US and Canada.

Advantages - durability increase from an average of 10 years to 20 years, lower decibel level (from 3 to 5 decibels), better grip (breaking distance reduced by 25%), lower costs (of up to 50%).

Disadvantages - very high cost of equipment required to process this mixture
