What do you mean ? Of course A4 is motorway, otherwise it wouldn't be 'A' then

Yes, what he said /\

How long is the section of the planned border-to-border A4 road that is not yet finished?

According to Google Maps it's about 236 km long: click

it's approximately 250 km and it is the section situated east of Kraków (Kraków-Tarnów-Rzeszów-Korczowa on the Ukrainian border). The first chunk of about 20 km is due to be opened this autumn (Kraków-Szarów)

At least the A4 is still Poland's longest motorway in operation - it's much longer than the A2 and A1 put together. It would be better if it was extended to form a motorway northern ring road for Kraków so that the traffic heading for Warsaw doesn't have to trundle through the suburbs of Kraków on the existing roads connecting to the E77.
There is no way that the A4 will reach Tarnów before late next year. Don't know why there are delays in building the 20km of motorway from Kraków to Szarów.
Great to see Dresden signed at at least two exits (Godzieszów and Zgorzelec) on the new section of the A4 even if it and Berlin are both absent from the signs at Krzyżowa
The sooner Jędrychowice and Olszyna are removed from the signs at Krzyżowa the better.
It is ridiculous that even Krzyżowa is signed
Poland must be the only country in Europe which signs tiny unimportant border villages like
Świecko, Jędrychowice, Olszyna, Kołbaskowo, Budzisko and Terespol on signs

There is ongoing process which will end-up with decision on final location of this section. And some works are also ongoing - more info and pictures here:

But indeed - could be done quicker.

I think - no chances for A4 in Tarnów next year, but construction works definitely can be ongoing. Regarding 20km Kraków - Szarów section - we should ask: DRAGADOS SA & Polimex – Mostostal SA. Poor chances to have it this year.

It had its infamous places where trucks weren't able to go up the hill due to tight curves and inability to speed up before the hill.

Then the DK-3 (then E-14) was rerouted twice, first westwards to the present path of 297, then eastwards to where it is now (thus creating the present route 297).

This slightly sentimental entry is to show how much has changed - unfortunately only in the east-west direction. I'd like to see the entire DK-3/E-65 improved, because it still goes through towns - the nice resort of Szklarska Poręba being cut half.

Poland's not the only country in Europe doing so... I remember that e.g. in Hungary on the motorway Budapest - Vienna they sign also the border crossing Hegyeshalom and Rajka. On the other motorway there is Letenye at Croatian border. Another one : the border with Slovenia is signed Tornyiszetmiklos witch is as ridiculous as Polish Jędrzychowice. From Spain I remember that the signs on the A7 motorway Barcelona - Perpignan show the border village La Jonquera...

Szklarska Poręba, maybe will get a bypass. Traffic will be lower after constructing S3

Those are only supplements though. In Poland it's the main information.

Of course it's not. One carriageway is as pretty as Rihanna and the other one is as crappy as shit. This map is mistaken.
