So works for A4 Jarosław - Korczowa should start in Q2 2010?

That's gonna be dangerously close to open before Euro 2012. No room for delays. Construction time for these projects are usually like 24 months, however, I believe they shut down the works during winter for 3 months.

This section has a set end date written in the contract which is 30.4.2012.

I know, but if delays appear, are you gonna open a motorway that isn't finished? An end date are just written letters, what's more interesting is the actual opening date. And tenders that are now awarded do not have much flexibility in terms of unforeseen delays. Everything they want to open before Euro 2012 has to be awarded this year, so construction does not start any later than Q2 2010.

However, I do think the focus on Euro 2012 is a bit overrated when it comes to infrastructure. Sure, Euro 2012 is a nice goal to have a top-quality infrastructure, but all the planned and U/C Autostrady and Drogi Ekspresowe will also be of importance after Euro 2012.

So not having projects completed before this 3-week event, isn't the end of the world.

What is also written is thet they have to make the road 'fit for cars' even if not all works are finished. Noone knows what does it exactly mean and if it is legal or not - we will see. The same will be on A2 Łódź - Warsaw.

Sure it's not, but it would be nice to have a motorway right from the border, even with a 50 km gap after 40 kms only for PR.

What are the chances of the A4 Szarów - Jarosław (180 km!) being opened before Euro 2012?

Szarów - Rzeszów Eastern sections probably will be finished before Euro2012, but Rzeszów Eastern - Jarosław section - I don't believe in opening it to traffic before Euro2012. No way. (tender wasn't announced yet)

All of it? Not a single one.

But everything from Szarów to Rzeszów is now a tender, from which 57 km started December 2008, 7 km March 2009, 3,5 km in April and 70 km in June.

Taking into account that the longest time to start the construction is 1 year, with the average of ca.10 months, all this is likely to be finished on time.

A2 Stryków - Konotopa

News from GDDKiA:

National Appeal Chamber agreed to sign agreements despite of pending appeals. This means they will be signed by end of September.

Yeah, I've read that on the GDDKiA site

I check there every day for news I consider Poland as one of my key interest countries when it comes to road infrastructure (the others being Spain, Germany, France and the United States).

I also read GDDKiA "forgot" that the last 1.5 km near Swiecko also needed to be constructed between the existing A12 to Germany and the A2 U/C by the concessionaire. So, they rushed to construct that one too

In fact this is just upgrade of existing 2x2 profile to A standards. Should not be any problem to have it when new A2 section from Nowy Tomyśl will be ready. There is planty of comments on gazeta.pl to this "news" - even with requests to remove it, as it is not so sensational as it was written

Pffff ... Don't believe all that you read!
That ~2 km stretch looked like this in 2005 and last time I check, it was still there:

It seems like only some minor changes are needed (perhaps some widening), since it's 2×2 already.

It already has a new pavement, this is an old photo.

Still, it will be changed once more.
