I would sign them only after the last large city before the border, and always with a significant city across the border, so it doesn't looks like the world ends at the border, you'll expect such things in North Korea or former DDR or something, but i think that time has come and gone for Poland.
We used to have this "tiny village signage" in the Czech Rep., many foreigners therefore know where a tiny village of Rozvadov is, because it's the main destination on D5 from Prague towards Nürnberg. But this has changed, it will last some time, till the old signs will be replaced, but on new ones we have foreign cities, like Gliwice on D1 near Ostrava, Katowice on R48 near Frydek-Mistek or Dresden on D8 near Ústí n.L.. Maybe this will be changed also in Poland in some time... But the main problem in PL as well as in CZ or SK is lack of basic border-to-border motorway net, so this is only secondary matter...

By the end of 2012 we will have had whole A1, A2 from German border up to Warsaw and also whole A4 completed. That makes up a total of around 1600 km. Not that bad

Yeah the final expressway and motorway plan is quite impressive. According to Polish wikipedia, Poland should have the 3rd longest expressway/motorway network in Europe by 2020. (maybe that's a bit optimistic, but i've calculated all projects, and it totals over 7000km).

It's a bit optimistic, but even if we will not build all those roads which are planned, still it will be a very good network.

As I read in the Polish subsection, S69 will be 2x2 from B-B to Zywiec and 1x2 from Zywiec to Zwardoń at SK border

Thank you. So it's similar to Slovak D3. It's also in full profile to Žilina and will be in half profile to the Polish border.

Actually, D3 is motorway rather only officially. Unofficially it has motorway parameters only from crossing with D1 to Žilina, from Žilina to Polish border it will be expressway, however, still with name D3. It's due to some European bureaucracy so it's from some weird reason better to name it motorway. Because of very mountainous terrain it would be way too expansive to build real motorway there.
And yes, this "motorway" will be built in half profile with maximal speed 90 km/h. When the full profile will be completed, speed limit will increase on 130 km/h.

Here is picture from already build section. Notice that blue sign which is in Slovakia used on roads. Motorways and expressway have green signs. So this is now not even considered expressway, just first class road and until full profile will be done, it will be still only first class road.:

There are not so many Autostrada's planned, but the number of planned Droga Ekspresowa is huge (Expressways). This map doesn't show those.

yeah, but Poland is large country, so when they finish their motorways, number of km's will be quite high.
the good thing is that polish expressways have high standards and they are not much different from motorways

It'll be 2000 kilometers of motorways and 5200 km of expressways.

This is expressway*:

And this is motorway:

* But we've got 2 versions of expressways: 2 lanes and 1 lane
