[PL] Polish highways & motorways

The title of this thread may be kind of misleading, altough it fits well Highway & Autobahns' index list. As most of you probably know,
polish 2x2 expressways are very similar in terms of construction, usage and overall look to autostradas. In Poland, we're currently
fighting for something more than A/S incollisional highway system. Thus, you've seen some photos of 1x2 expressway in this
thread, which are likely to be upraged into 2x2 (vide bypass of Gorzow Wielkopolski or bypass of Kielce). Some will stay 1x2
until traffic grows enough for 2x2, like S22 Elblag - Grzechotki (not sure about this one).

There is a third class of "motorway" standard called GP - droga Glowna ruchu Przyspieszonego (literally accelerated main road).
It can be grade separated or not (for example, popular DK1 "Gierkowka" witch is gonna be A1 soon).

Some of them were already presented here (GP DK22 bypass of Chojnice). Most of bypasses which are off main road A/S system
are bulit in GP standard. Facts about GPs:

* can be easily rised to S standard;
* sometimes law forces GP (vide DTS in Silesia);
* GPs saves less important routes, like DK9 mentioned by Criss - you get bypasses and sort of guaranty for an upgrade to S in the future;
* when grade-separated, you find GP standarded route very pleasent to driveon (for example, excellent lithuanian roads - thats just my
experience);

The reason I'm reminding about polish third class road is a great work being done by IgorSel. The map is still U/C but you can
find new GP investments, following the legend:

Road infrastructure investments in Poland (22 december 2009):

Autostrada >= 2x2
Expressway >= 2x2
Expressway 1x2

Grade separated >= 1x2

Shouldn't the S7 connecting three large cities (Warsaw, Krakow, and Tricity [Gdansk, Gdynia Sopot], via some big cities (Kielce, Radom), shouldn't it be three lanes in each direction?

All S7 projects include reserve for third lane or they already include it (eg. Warsaw metro area)

Yeah, but I'm asking about the one that's already under construction, PLH said the greenies stopped the process, I would like to know whether this will be finished or not.

nope, they just want to stop breaking the law (building this bypass was violating the law).

That's what they use. The real intention is to obstruct the construction of new roads as much as possible. Do you really think they only do it so that the law will be obeyed to the letter?

Or even better just Dolný Kubín (SK).

We don't know their real intentions. If they were against constructing in general, they would appear at every section being constructed. And they don't. At last they are also road users.

The huge mistake was that no alternative variants were prepared... I mean Augustów bypass.

I'd leave Kraków as the last following and start to sign Dolný Kubín from Kraków on.

Okay, alternatives need to be prepared, but on the other hand, if the road authority wants an alternative, more often than not, they get that variant. I mean, you'll lose it to the government in 95% of the times. Yes you may delay it, but you can't cancel it all together.

Usually appeals are made because of futilities, small errors etc. If they don't make an appeal, it's also possible that area doesn't have an active environmental organization, or that the government environmental impact statements are just watertight.
