The speed of construction of the A2 motorway is amazing - the interchange at Nowy Tomyśl looks almost complete already . Not sure about the mismash appearance of the road surface - smooth asphalt at one end and concrete slabs at the other. I wonder if construction is going just as fast at the Świecko/Rzepin and Jordanowo interchanges? Great to see such fast progress on one of Poland's most important missing motorway links

Now in Poland everything is amazing concerning motorways.
This week we have even DSU for S6 from Goleniow (near Szczecin) to Slupsk through Kolobrzeg - 180 km

I guess it needs to be tendered, so we won't see construction before 2011?

How long are those DSU's legal anyway? Don't they expire and lose their legality after a certain amount of years? (it's 10 years in the Netherlands).

About the construction - noone knows. There's no funding.

It's 4 years, with an option for another 2 years if there is a "reasonable need".

All this "savings" is less money we have to borrow from financial market. Road construction is currently based of National Road Fund, which issues special "road-bonds". There is no direct funding form state budget.

This system relaxed our national budget in statistical matter, but national debt is still rising

Each road-bond issue has to be accepted by our Minister of Finance, whose priority is national debt.

Our creative accountants should remember, that National Road Fund can end like Massachusetts Turnpike Authority (they used only bonds-financing of The Big Dig).

Poland's financial situation is far, far better than that of Italy or Spain. Borrowing money does make sense.

I know, but apparently they reserved certain loans to borrow from the financial market. Now that they have to borrow less, they can use the left-overs (savings) of the anticipated loans to fund other highway projects, or am I wrong? I mean it's important Poland maintains a healthy fiscal policy, but so are roads.

Highly interesting. I was unaware of the fact S6 would deviate so much from the DK6 alignment, to serve the city of Kołobrzeg. It actually does make a lot of sense. I guess the Słupsk bypass will quickly get a second roadway?

Second roadway should be built after 2014 or later...

Yes, but that was old idea, now S6 and S11 will be this same road to Kolobrzeg. IMO it's better because traffic on DK6 is not so big.
