Yes, there are talks, but the measure isn't yet implemented and I'm not sure whether it will me implemented in the future or not.

I believe the German A2 has electronic speed limits set at 140 km/h during quiet times. Never seen it myself though. Austria experimented with a 160 km/h limit on the southern section of A10 Tauern Autobahn. There is no such thing as 160 km/h in Italy. Legislation can allow this, but it didn't happen so far.

I can confirm this, I have seen these restrictions near Hannover. Also Czechs were planning to introduce 160 km/h speed limit, don't know how it turned out though.

If it was a struggle to build the S8 in Warsaw due to the highly populated and dense western suburbs than it won't be any easier constructing the S17 eastern bypass through the city's eastern suburbs which may need more viaducts and tunnels . At least Warsaw now has a proper dual carriageway bypass even if it will take a while for it to be open for use at last - a real achievement for Warsaw But the S17 eastern bypass won't be started soon so at least there is time to plan this route carefully

The S8 in Warsaw will be opened this January and all construction inaccuracies will be gradually eliminated, so no worries.

Do E28 and E77 still follow a ferry route from Gdansk to Kaliningrad instead of following the main roads (DK7/S7, S22, DK54 ?), which are planned to be expressway standard some day?

Will any 140 km/h speed limits be posted along such a land route?

You have a 140 km/h sign some posts above. That is the highest speed limit that I saw somewhere (I didn't remember if Italy had a speed limit of 150 km/h), besides the 300000 km/s of German autobahnen...

Italian highway code allows a 150 km/h speed limit, but with so many caveats and conditions that currently no piece of highway in Italy permits such speed.

Often repeated argument about Germany is indeed not true. There are many sections (more than listed here http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_d...utobahnen_sind), which meet no criteria of a motorway. Plus, out of the rest, half have no speed limits.

Polish motorways have practically no speed limit as well, because as far as I have seen, there are no speed control cameras, nor police.

There are unmarked police cars designated especially for patrolling motorways in Poland.

Plus electronic speed measurement is coming to at least A1 at the beginning.

140 km/h is the new speed limit but there is also a 10km/h buffer so in reality one can drive 150km/h on highways in Poland and still not get a ticket.

So 140 km/h is a general speed limit for all motorways in Poland, unless signed otherwise?

Did the "S" class road get a higher limit i.e. 120? Or is it still 110?

What about A-1, section Strykow - Piotrkow Trybunalski? Will it be opened in 2012 as well?
