Augustów's bypass news

I have just read on a newspaper that the tender regarding Augustów's bypass has been resolved today. Polish firm Budimex will build 36,3 km long bypass. The accepted project takes into account the future construction of S69 via Łomża. Budimex pay for the work is fixed at 659,2 mln PLN which is circa 169,46 mln EUR.

Other companies that were taking part in the tender have ten days to sue the adjustment. Hopefully everything will go smooth and three and a half year after signing the contract citizens of Augustów will be able to take a deep, pollution free breath.

What is important for me as a nature lover, this investment won't disturb a calm existence of the Rospuda river Valley which is a beautiful part of European Union programme called "Nature 2000".

I would like to clarify that, strictly, the Polish signage typeface is called 'Drogowskaz' or at least that's the name of the free TrueType font developed by the supremely talented Emil Wojtacki. One source is here - click. As far as I know, the official typeface does not have a recognised name.

'Drogowskaz Classic' is the name of a motorway signage specification, developed here on SSC, whose aim was to modernise and face-lift Polish motorway signage. One aspect of the project was to redesign the typeface and introduce a narrow typeface version, both of which were done. The new typefaces are called:
- 'Drogowskaz_lekki_owalny', which is the normal typeface
- 'Drogowskaz Engschrift', which is the narrow typeface

Unfortunately, neither typeface is enshrined in Law and, for now, they exist somewhere between our wishful thinking and the Twilight Zone.

For more details on the project follow the link in my footnote.

A2 Border crossing Świecko (film #3, 1:55) [post #5793]

Do you know what is there under the former customs building? A tunnel or what? (the entrance seen on the left on the post #5793, film #3, 1:55)
I have passed the place several times both directions and it is clearly visible that on the axis of the original Autobahn built in 1930/40s there is a cut in the slope of a slightly steep bank of the Oder/Odra river. Now the road passes it round as on the film. So what was there?
And another question: Is there any sub-forum devoted to the development of the European network of motorways like the following:

http://nowedrogi.pl/autostrady.htm

or

http://www.autobahn-online.de/geschichte.html

Btw, has anyone found the longest section of a motorway undivided and unbroken by any interchange? As regards Polish conditions, it is A4, which led from Balice, Krakow to Berlin (ca 575 km), but after the opening of Krzyżowa interchange it was redirected towards Zgorzelec/Dresden and now ends at A7 in Germany (957 km according to Google maps)
Thanks to such systematised knowledge we may be able to know when two most distant places will be available without leaving a motorway. Is there such a study? For the time being, Szczecin, Wrocław and Krakow may "reach" Lisbon whichever route we take, so can Łódź (partly, counting so-called dual carriageways), but still not Warsaw

You can see that clearly on google maps satelite there is some kind of tunnel to passing by under customs building. Entrance is on both sides of the building.

Hi, guys.
Is there information about the price per km of this stretch of S8?

And maybe there is table like this, but for 2011?

This section is 10,4km (including part that is ready, but closed for traffic until A2 is ready) and cost us 2149235184,89 PLN, which gives us around 206,66 mln PLN per kilometer. Just under 53 million euros / km.

For those not familiar with polish:
Oferta - offered price,
Kosztorys - cost estimate,
Różnica - difference between the two above.

There has not been too much going on this year, most tenders are on hold until we get our budget out of trouble.

Arithmetic mean (średnia arytmetyczna) and weighted mean (średnia ważona). Arithmetic mean doesn't really make much sense in this context. Weighted mean is a proper average price per kilometer for all roads (A and S) contracted in a given year.

Yeah, I have already caught it myself, but still have one question Is there VAT in Poland and what value it has for construction materials?
