Ok, but anybody knows what was the original RAB trace? What was on the spot before the customs building was constructed? Any military structure to defend the bridge against charging Soviet troops?

If there were such, then on the other side - you're in Poland.

The RAB never reached the Oder. The border crossing opened in 1957. So the customs building was there from the beginning.

What exactly happened at the A4 Brzesko – Wierzchosławice sector? Contracts terminated? Same trouble as A1 Świerklany - Gorzyczki?

According to the press, the contractors accused GDDKiA of not paying on time and expected extra funds to cover the losses due to the floods in summer. GDDKiA refused and in turn accused them of lagging behind the schedule (up to 6-9 months). So in the end you might say it's similar to what happened with the A1.

No. Expect it around midyear.

Same as A1 in Silesia. Personally, I belive more the GDDKiA. Floods could have prevented them from working for some time, but it seems to me that contractors understood too late, that this project overwhelmed them. The truth will be unveiled in court.

If reports about failing schedule are true (supposingly only 17% of work after 1/2 of contract time) we are in serious trouble. The motorway will be open about 1 year later.

And why did they kill the call for tenders for A18?
Is A18 not important?

A busload of tenders were canceled this week. A18 is not really important in terms of traffic volumes, it handles around 10.000 vehicles per day. It's better to carry that traffic on 2 lanes than on 4 lanes out of which 2 are very bad for your suspension and the image of Poland to foreign nationals (A18 is the last motorway in bad condition in Poland). There are talks about putting a petition up, urging to close the eastbound carriageway.

There are many more important roads that we wouldn't built either. Bad times came.

What is finally with the A8 Wrocław bypass becoming a toll road ? I hope this weird idea has been thrown out ...

Yeah, I posted it here in January:

46 876 accidents,
59 123 injured victims,
5 243 dead victims.

And 20 years ago in record breaking 1991 7901 people died in road accidents, more than twice as much as last year!

Do you have a credible source like a news paper or statistical agency?

Of course I trust you but if you want to quote that elsewhere, you need a better source than "somebody on SSC"

All the data are first published on this official police site:
http://dlakierowcow.policja.pl/porta...esiecznym.html
Scroll down for the latest monthly reports (in Polish, sorry).

BTW, January 2011 data are horrible: 216 killed in comparison with 175 in january'2010.
