They are actually yellow - warning signs, and yellow fit their role, doesn't it?

I'm curious, because Poland's neighbours - Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia use white background as majority of European countries.

@Qwert But You must admit that yellow draws attention much better than white

Thanks for your pictures PLH! It's nice to get lots of updates of the A4! I would also love to see your pics of the A2, I've never been to middle/northern Poland. And no, it doesn't get boring.

I don't know, IMO there's bigger contrast between black and white than black and yellow. Maybe there is some study which shows which are better in which conditions.

AFAIK Yellow and black are said to have a better contrast, that is also the reason why Germany has this kind of signs.

Why did we have to turn from yellow to white then?

Maybe it was so, because post-yugoslavian signs were dark yellow and polish are light yellow? I don't have any other idea.

Celebration of soon to be completed A4 motorway link from southern Germany to Krakow

By December 2008 Krakow will be fully connected to the European motorway network thanks to the completion of the missing A4 motorway link between Krzyzowa and Zgorzelec. The motorway will mean that the journey from German cities such as Leipzig/Dresden to Krakow can be done completely via motorway in a much faster time, also traffic congestion around the Boleslawice E40 bypass will be eased. Boleslawice will benefit from the A4
motorway in the same way that Gliwice has as both towns will have motorway bypasses.
Even though this is something to celebrate, it is
extremely disappointing to see that Poland's capital has to wait until 2010 to be fully connected to the European motorway network - the
construction of the A2 motorway between Swiecko and Nowy Tomysl needs to start NOW if it's ever going to get finished by the promised year of 2010.
I am not saying that Krakow is less important than Warsaw and it will be great that Silesia's industrial giants can get their goods into Germany much more quickly via road thanks to the eradication of the E40 bottleneck between Zgorzelec and Boleslawice, but surely it is vital that central and well as southern Poland has a COMPLETE A2 motorway link to Berlin, it's no good having a motorway link only between Poznan and Lodz.
Also, couldn't they have ended the A2 motorway at the E65 interchange close to Swiebodzin rather than at a place which nobody has ever heard of (not that Swiebodzin is more well known than Nowy Tomysl)
At least if the A2 motorway had continued on to bypass Trzciel and continue on to the E65 it would allow a temporary faster link to from Lodz to Szczecin and Wroclaw (bypassing Poznan as an added bonus) via the E65 trunk route.
Autostrada Wielkopolska needs to overcome it's petty bureaucracy problems and get to work on the A2 from Nowy Tomysl to Swiecko.
If they can a 100km route from Konin to Strykow than surely a 105km route
from Nowy Tomysl to Swiecko can't be a problem
- there are only three interchanges to build on this stretch
(E30 nr Trzciel, Jordanowo (E65) and Rzepin) plus one interchange has already been built for them (route 29 from Slubice to Zielona Gora - the first exit on the Polish side of the German/Polish border) which is considerably less interchanges than there are on the Konin to Strykow route.
