S79 Tunnel?

Speaking of a tunnel under the city centre, a few days ago I was thinking that it might be a good idea for the S79 to pass by tunnel under the centre of Warsaw and connect the S7 with the S7. TBMs (rather than cut-and-cover) would have to be used due to the east-west railroad lines.

Are there any long-term plans to extend the S7 south of the orbital expressway toward the centre (as the S79 will extend the S7 north of the orbital toward the centre)?

S79 and S7 will one day be connected by a new NS route. This is going to be city's investment, not government's (so it's not going to be called S79). Actually it's planned to go partly in a half-tunnel. But I don't believe it's going to be built within the next 20 years. If you're interested - here is a more detailed plan:

And more info if you're into polish language

S7, NS route, S79 and S7 towards Tarczyn (new alignment) are what is left from the original alignment of A7 motorway Gdańsk - Warsaw - Cracow in Warsaw Metropolitan Area.

To see that take this map: www.mapa.siskom.waw.pl and turn on "drogi krajowe" and "drogi miejskie" layers.

Thanks everyone!

If that will be a signal-free corridor, then I cannot complain, but a much more direct route could be achieved with 1-2 kilometers (per direction) of tunnel boring.

But what would be the point? How would you connect it with the road network? This route has been planned in this location for a long, long time, there is room left for interchanges etc. Tunnel would make it almost impossible to access (and it is supposed to serve mostly for interborough traffic), not to mention the cost (which is already way more than Warsaw can spare).

Guys, I'm looking for a picture of an embankment, where there is a plastic grate-form on the steep embankment which holds new grass. This prevents it from washing down at the first real rain shower. I saw a picture of it somewhere on Polish SSC. Does anyone of you know where to find an example?

I saw it fairly recently, within the last month, and it must've been at a project that's nearly finished.

edit: something like this:

But then with a grass cover.

They're called geogrids (or geosynthetics in general - there is a wide range of fabrics, grids etc that work in the same way) and are in use all over the world - nothing special about them.

Thank you for contacting Tele Atlas. Based on a review of your report, we can now confirm that the change you suggested has been made. It will go out in the next release of our map database. This report is now closed.

Tele Atlas supplies maps to the companies that make devices or applications, not directly to the people who use them. We update the map we supply so these companies can incorporate the map update in their own systems. When this process is complete, your change will be made available to you. It may be possible to purchase an updated map; please contact your device manufacturer or application provider for further information.

Thanks again for your willingness to help keep Tele Atlas maps up-to-date and accurate!

That was much faster than previous reports I've filed with Tele Atlas. However, I have no idea how long it will be until the next release of their map database. I also have no idea how long it will take after that until Google Maps reflect the change.

For example the road S3 opened on:

26.05.2010 - S3 Szczecin (Klucz) - Pyrzyce, 2x2, 28,2 km
22.10.2010 - S3 Pyrzyce - Myślibórz, 2x2, 26,7 km
30.12.2010 - S3 Myślibórz - Gorzów Wkp., 2x2, 26,7 km

ist still not presented on Google Maps.
