1. I'm only 16, so I don't drive. But my father drove according to the speed limit. We drove about 110 on the motorways (not faster, because we drive a Toyota Prius, which will consume much more when driving faster)
2. Ok, there are normal drivers, but there are also exceptions. Guys that make 2 lane roads, 3 lane or 4 lane roads. Sometimes they are a bit reckless, especially on the 2 lane roads. Our opinion was confirmed by all the crosses and small statues along the road.....

We stayed in a holiday home in the Mala Fatra for one week. Not the real Mala Fatra, but the part west of Martin, which is no national park.
After a week we stayed another week in a holiday home in the High Tatras (Stola)

I hope you had nice trip. You can post some photos of Slovakian roads as well (if you have some) in Slovak highways thread.

Some pics from very first section of S17 expressway between Warszawa and Lublin in Poland's southeast. Bypass of the town Garwolin, 12 km long. Opened in September 2007:

Why is this road only qualified as an S-road, which means expressway if i remember correctly?

Cause it has narrower lanes and tighter turns - but it's toll free instead

Any one got updates on upgrade of E36 from Golnice to Olszyna to motorway A18?

I'm especially interested in A18
Does anybody know if work has started on rebuilding the south bound
carraigeway of the A18/E36 and when it will be finished?
The construction companies should aim to get both the A4 motorway from
Krzyzowa to Zgorzelec and the E36 upgrade to the A18 motorway finished
by the end of 2008 as they are both urgently needed links to the
European motorway network and on European road atlases the E36 betweeen Golnice and Olszyna needs to be be shown as motorway.
I've seen the pictures of the A18 motorway on this site and looked up
A18 motorway on Wikipedia - in the pictures both carraigeways are in use and
all the over/underpasses have been reconstructed, however in Wikipedia all it says is that all traffic will be shifted onto the north bound carraigeway
between 2008-2010 (somewhat vague), from this it gives the impression that
the south bound carraigeway will not be completed until 2010 - this is far too
late!
How long can it take to demolish and rebuild a single carraigeway - surely not 2 years? (especially when all of the interchanges and flyovers between Golnice and Olszyna have been rebuilt)

When is Krzyzowa interchange going to look more like an interchange?

[QUOTE=PLH;19104439]A4/A18 Krzyżowa Interchange
by crane_operator

As lovely as the pictures of the Krzyzowa interchange are when it is going to begin looking more like an interchange with completed flyovers and underpasses as well as new signs for the exit on the A18 motorway?
This is the most important interchange on the A4 motorway so surely it should be done by July? even if drivers on the A18 motorway can't actually turn off onto the A4 motorway
The A4 motorway construction needs to speed up as a delayed opening until 2009 will seriously damage the regional economy.

In order to remove those concrete slabs, special machinery is needed. This takes a long time. The only date that I heard was 2010

I suppose you don't know how does this place look like now:

North: A4 Wrocław/Breslau
South: A18 Berlin
East: A4 Drezno/Dresden

Now the A4 and A18 are one motorway, so there is no such thing as You said

Is there anywhere where I can find pictures of how the Krzyzowa interchange will look when it's finished?
I know that it's a basic flyover design with a massive flyover to take A4 bound traffic over the A18 motorway and slips roads from the A4 onto the A18
I like this design as it's cheaper than a roundabout-style interchange

north: A18 Berlin
west: A4 Drezno/Dresden
south: A4 Wrocław/Breslau

The faded line going across the interchange is current A18, which is now being demolished
