Latest news on A2 Lodz-Warsaw:

On four of the five sections of the A2 layer built foundations last week exceeded 90%, of which the one nearest to Warsaw, is completed in full. At the least advanced section C, sub-base layer is placed at 53 percent.

In the last week (16-23 April 2012) attended a binder. By over 14 percent is more of the section B, which means that this section is more than 80 percent of the layer. More and more binder is also in the middle section C, built by a consortium of Boegl Krysl. Last week przyrosło her about 7 percent and now stands at 45 percent proficiency.

Not me. I believe sections D and E can open before the Euro kick-off. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of sections A and B also opening before kick-off. I remain skeptical about Section C.

Yep, it's basically 5 weeks. Though motorways have opened in the past without the final layer of pavement.

Does it matter so much? Football championships will come and go very soon, but the roads will stay on for many decades to come. Better to build a bit slower, but make sure that the quality is top notch...

The idea is to portray an image of Poland for the Euro tourists though that it's not a backwards country with rubbish roads.

Not that I'm complaining, I'm happy they are building it anyhow, I visit the Warsaw and Lublin areas for family anyhow, so the A2 shaves of a lot of my travel time.
I remember when I was little you could still keep a pace on the normal roads, last couple of times it was congested tripe though, even lucky to manage 70 km/h on average. So the motorways are essential imho.

The tourists who drive will see that Poland has a mixture of excellent new roads and rubbish soviet-era roads, with lots of construction going on. I don't think that will create negative impressions. I think it creates an impression of progress.

We all seem to agree that the new roads are needed. The only debate seems to be how important it is to have them ready before Euro 2012. Personally, I don't think the timing is so important. I'm hoping for a lot of new openings before winter sets in and construction slows with the weather.

Haha yes it was, easy and simple way to do it! I agree with with the timing, it shouldn't be rushed but I can really see 4 out of 5 opening with section C opening at the beginning of July with the last 3 weeks progress reports suggesting this optimism. I'm also hopeful of that Poland can do well at this year's Euro's for a change, being half polish myself!

For today there is A2 highway from DE/PL border to Łódź. Here You have driving video from German border to Nowy Tomyśl.

A2 was never one lane, you're confusing Polish numbering with the British one: A=M, red background=A, yellow background=B
