Noise barrier insanity. This makes Poland a very unattractive country from the view of a traveler.

250 milion zlotys spent on these barriers between Lodz and Warsaw and yet GDDKiA opts to use cheap Lattix type sign posts and oftentimes road signs are so small they are barely visible.

They sure got their priorities completely messed up.

Example: (photo by Dziekanows)

To be honest, motorways in Poland rarely provide as breathtaking views as back roads do, but my, do those barriers look ugly

So usual national roads may become attractive because of lack of noise barriers - it can be some compensation for still insufficient network :P

Finally Warsaw has some kind of proper motorway access. So when can we realistically expect section D of the A2 to open to traffic?

I would guess perhaps in about a week or two. Section D will open one more interchange, with the DW579, if I'm not mistaken.

Warsaw the last capital in EU with a highway. Ok, but WTF is that? Noise barriers!? It looks like a isolation ward. It´s so sick. 250 mln zlotys between Lodz and Warsaw, sounds great for me. GDDKiA

Tallinn has some nice roads which are expressway-quality but not officially designated as such. There are a few roads into Riga which approach expressway-quality. I think one should judge the roads serving a capital city in context. Yes, Warsaw may be a few years behind the other 9 capitols of member states that joined the EU in 2004, but Poland currently has the best highway construction programme in the EU.

update

My guesses
section a:25/06 ready + open
section b 28/05 ready 25/06 open
section c 25/06 ready + open
section d 28/05 ready + open
section e 21/05 ready + open {actual 23/05 confirmed}

Euro 2012 matches starting 08/06 and ending 01/07... lets see what happens

More importantly, was there alot of camera "shake" due to cameraman or due to uneven road surface. Camera view seems fixed yet front of car coming in and out of shot constantly and its not due to zooming. Looked a bumpy road to me.

Dunno if this was already mentioned here, but today I noticed that Google Maps added; A1 Grudziądz-Toruń, A2 Nowy Tomyśl-Świecko (ends before Rzepin) and A8 Wrocław bypass.

Do you really think so? IMO from 2007 Romanian & Bulgarian progress is more impressive than ours.
