If open on 06/06 then sections A and C will not have full sma layer. At present rate, section A would need 7 weeks of paving. Section C not more than around 6 weeks. If they leave the paving to later in July, then whole road will not be "finished" by 1 August, I think.

New version of map. Click on stretch and it moves you to thread about it on SSC.

I'm planning to drive through Poland - from Cieszyn (Czech border) to Budzisko (Lithuanian border) - on 9th and 10th of June. I'm not particularly interested in driving through Warsaw, having already seen the city (and its traffic), but that just seems to be the shortest route.

Any guesses what the situation will be around then? What would be the smoothest way through Warsaw? Usually I trust Google maps, but SSC seems to offer updated information better...

That's a weekend, so shouldn't be bad. There's a euro 2012 match on 8th, but I doubt that changes much.
Don't trust google maps on this one, becasue we'll have some major road openings before your trip.
The smoothest way would be to enter via A2 (hopefully whole strech Stryków-Warszawa will be open) and follow S8 to Marki (which should also be open by then).

Thank you. I think the biggest question is, whether Stryków-Warsaw will be open by that weekend or not. If not, I'll probably follow road 8.

I guess I'll be reading this thread intensively

It's a 50% chance, either it will open, or it will not open

Actually, there is a 100% chance that it will be either open or not open. ;-)

But 99% probability that it will open (as the user 'UPR20' tried to point out)...

Have in mind that road 8 between Piotrkow Trybunalski and Mszczonow is under construcion. It's really bad during the week, but weekends are ok.

Contracts for the A4/S19 around Rzeszów have been terminated by the GDDKiA! Serves them right, there was almost no progress.

Does that mean the A4 Rzeszów bypass isn't going to open next month as planned? From the photos on the website for this part of the motorway it looks finished to me

The works are only 49% completed according to GDDKiA.

Unfortunately it's not going to be opened. Section in question (Rzeszów Zachód - Rzeszów Centralny) is far from being finished:
http://www.zbm.home.pl/a4rzeszzach2/?maj-2012,134

GDDKiA now plans to bypass the normal public tender procedure and give the contract (using single-source procurement procedure) to the companies who are building neighboring sections of A4 (Mostostal from the east and Budimex from the west). There is hope they could make it passable (popular word as of late ) before winter, but we'll have to see.

Part of it looks like this:

Another part (the one where the contract was cancelled) looks like this:

A2 appears to be entirely passable now.

Some questions:

I assume there are no rest areas on the new section from Stryków to Konotopa. I also assume there are no exits yet operational between Stryków and Grodzisk M., is that correct? That would mean a motorway with no exits for 75 kilometers, unique in Europe and perhaps the world.

I'm not entirely sure, but I checked Polish Wikipedia and noticed the last eastbound gas station is just west of Konin. This means there are no gas stations for the next 200 kilometers to Warszawa. It may be a good idea to advise motorists about this situation. No gas stations and no way to exit. It wouldn't surprise me if the Polish roadside assistance will have to refuel stranded vehicles on this section.
