Yes, it's A1/S8 interchange, but the photos show A1. You can see the beginning of Polimex's contract on far end of the second photo.

Only near junctions and resting areas (and toll plazas).

Actually mid October. And it's gonna be a miracle if they finish it in 2014 at all, Polimex-Mostostal (main contractor) is struggling financially, so progress is rather slow.

Aren't they? ufonut claims they'll be implemented experimentally on A1 from Kowal to Toruń. Returning to the Autostädter's remark, Ostrava is a very good replacement of Gorzyczki.

They will be implemented just not exactly the one with "Ostrava 680" sign. These are just templates.

I'm not claiming anything I only copied what was said in a thread about road signage. I can't vouch for the validity of this information but there have been roumours about new highway/expressway signs for years now.

It makes perfect sense, Gorzyczki is a total non-event as far as border crossings go - it's senseless to even use it.

I like the concept of signing the first major city after the border. Berlin, L'viv, Kaunas, Ostrava etc all make much more sense.

A1 is an experience indeed. How about the part of your trip along Rt22 from A1 to the bridge over Wisla river? All in old pre-war cobblestones. That is an experience!

It seems that, officially, the Lublin bypass should be completed by the end of this year, but the photos do not suggest to me that this is possible.

Dragados claims that they keep the term of opening Lublin bypass (december 2013). Although they are working 24/h now it's hard to believe, but we will see....IMO more real term is summer 2014.

Dragados makes the yellow part:

Bright blue part is the Western Lublin bypass (ZOL - S19) and the tender to this section should be announced till the end of this year.

Violet section should be opened in November this year.

Green section is existing S12/17 Lublin-Piaski. This photo shows the connection between green and yellow section (bypass turns right):

You can also see Lublin bypass on this film (from about 3:19) :

You have to be ready to wait couple of hours, it depends on the border guards' mood.

I went to Lvov several months ago and it took us about two hours to make it through the border. The problem was that they kept us waiting for more than an hour and they didn't work at all during this time, once they started again it went rather smoothly.

Ok thanks for the info, it is quite a good waiting time for Ukraine. What about the polish side when you go back? Is the line for EU citizens working?
