S16 is disguised as the 2x2 GP class DK16 upgrades.

I can see second ring of Gdansk. What is the status of that project at the present? Is it included in near future plans?
What are the short, dead ended expressways near Sieradz and between Gorzow Wilekopolski and A2?

This is an ambicious plan. Perhaps in 15 years should be completed? I hope it.

The second ring of Gdańsk is split into two projects:

1. The northern part is called Trasa Kaszubska (The Kaszuby Route) which is close to receive environmental plan approval.

2. The southern part is called Obwodnica Metropolitalna (The Metropolitan Perimeter) which is less advanced in its design progress.

GDDKiA wants to start construction of Trasa Kaszubska as soon as possible due to fact that there is an enormous traffic congestion in Gdynia-Chylonia, Rumia, Reda and Wejherowo. Trasa Kaszubska effectively skips those and will be the ultimate western exit from Gdańsk metropolitan area.

However, there are some problems with obtaining the environmental plan. Also some activists of Gdynia are trying to persuade GDDKiA to postpone Trasa Kaszubska in favor of another Obwodnica Północna (The Northern Perimeter) which is worse choice as western exit, yet it suits better to the problems with traffic jams in Gdynia/Reda area.

It's not the best picture (and little outdated), but it should give you a glimpse of both Trasa Kaszubska and Obwodnica Północna:

This Obwodnica Metropolitalna will start on S7/S6 junction in Straszyn, then go nearby Żukowo and join Trasa Kaszubska in Bojano.

Which part or parts of the DK16 are being rebuilt to 2x2 GP class? All the way from Grudziadz (perhaps continuing into the S5) to the LT border? I guess probably not the part east of Augustow?

For now just unconnected stretches, but the Olsztyn bypass is a major project. These class GP roads could ultimately be absorbed into an S16.

Is the Olsztyn bypass a new project? I don't see it in openstreetmap. I do see a planned bypass of Ostrada, most of which looks like 2x2 (except the little bit which is west of the DK15).

That would be nice. It would relieve the Warsaw area of a lot of long-distance traffic between Germany and the Baltic States, as well as providing better connectivity for those living along the route.

DK16 doesn't get a lot of attention outside the western cities because it is substandard for a national road, especially between Mrągowo and Ełk. Long-distance traffic probably avoids it, which results in low traffic volumes, too low to require a full-blown expressway at this time.

The Olsztyn bypass was recently adopted into the "bypass scheme" by the national government. Another part of DK16 east of Biskupiec is currently being reconstructed into a 2x2 de-facto expressway. The Ostróda bypass will have a similar layout.

No. You have to use the B7.

These are not expressways, only regular GP-class bypasses of Skwierzyna and Sieradz. They are under construction along with S3 and S8.

No chance for S10, S11, S12, S74 to be completed in 15 years.

The plan for now is the part between Ostróda (S7) and Ełk (S61). Grudziądz-Ostróda is also planned, but these plans are not concrete (yet).

Mszana bridge is not completed, but there is a nice 10km, clearly signed detour.

Here's your optimal route through Poland

Unfortunately. The southern section of the S11 is rather redundant, but the bit north of Poznan is the primary route towards the sea from Poznan (and from Wroclaw, I would assume). The current DK11 is not a great road in the first place and often crowded in the summer, and the 178/163 combo to Kolobrzeg is scenic but very slow. A motorway would do well to cut the journey from 5 hours to something closer to 2 hours.

This is the map of the motorways constructed and the motorways under construction. I think in 2020 Poland will be a good motorway network. Of course after 2020 roads should be improved, but compare this network with 10-15 years ago. Poland has done a great work on this road network.

Green: constructed
Red: under construction

A1/ Eastern bypass of Łódź is missing, it's U/C. And yes Poland will have a decent motorway/expressway network soon .

One question about Polish definitions, because I am not sure how reliable is the wikipedia article

The expressways itself could be single or dual carriageways?

All the new S-roads are dual carriageways? There is any map to distinguish between single and dual?

Thanks
