Are you sure it's the first morotway to reach any part of the Ukrainian border? I thought the Hungarians had a Motorways built all the way to the Ukrainian border already.

Yes, it is. The Hungarian motorway ends about 50km in front of the Ukrainian border.

No official word, and I suspect that tolls won't come until after the 2015 elections. Next year is a huge election year, and the Government won't want to risk the electorate getting furious at having to pay 80zl to travel from Warszawa to Swiecko.

Places signed on the white sign on the left - drive straight.
Places signed on the green sign on the right - turn right.
It is not misleading.

BTW, they are opening this junction right now

It's not misleading, but it would be clearer if the two signs were separated from each other by at least 10 or 20 centimeters. I would move the green sign about a meter to the right and leave the white sign where it is. It would also be clearer (for people coming across this arrangement the first or second time) if the arrows were larger.

Don't forget the uncompleted viaducts at 3:55 and 10:30 But still a good decent stretch of motorway. I just wonder why the interchange with DK94 near Korczowa isn't open and is closed off as an exit?

Great progress but still a lot of work to be done. Im worried about the fact that the amount of motorways under construction is not really increasing.

In recent months, new tenders for construction of appr. 700 km of expressways were launched. In Poland, an expressway is a motorway in all but name.

Should it really? Ending up with a bunch of redundant highways (like in Spain) and deeply in debt wouldn't be all that much fun.

I have some questions:

- Is the European Union financed a lot of motorways in Poland since 2004? Well, I know the answer, yes, but I want to know how many km are financed by EU. In Spain 40% of km of motorways between 1986 and 2013 were financed by EU money.

- Why there are tolls in the new motorways? I live in Spain, and all the motorways constructed since 1988, except a few motorways (financed by EU) haven't got tolls. Now majority of motorways in Spain are toll free.

Yes, another 5000 kilometers of motorways and expressways are needed over the next 20 years or so. Poland is a large country with more than 38 million inhabitants and many cities spread out over the country, necessitating a large network to connect all cities.

Presently, many cities are not connected by motorways to other large cities. Only a few corridors are substantially complete, however single long stretches of motorway do not make up a network.

No such motorways are planned in Poland.

Is there a map showing the 700 kms that will eventually be 'red' on the map?

Ok, but how does the current distance of motorway/expressways compares with countries of similar size and population? Is it still low?

There are no countries with a similar population in Europe. Spain has somewhat more population (and a *much* larger motorway network) while Romania has fewer people and a smaller motorway network.

However if you calculate motorway length per capita, the Netherlands and Poland have a similar motorway length while Poland has 2.5 times more population.
