Isn't the remaining extension of the current S14 to the S8 and the S8 from there to DK91 supposed to open to traffic in two weeks?

Great video, I always wonder though what the workers are saying, "co to debile robi?" or similar And Buick Park Avenue with vinyl roof on S14? That is almost as bad as the Ford Taurus I saw in Poznan once

We don't know, few weeks ago GDDKiA stated that it will open no sooner than in May, but yesterday there was an article saying that it might open in two weeks...

As you can see in Rusonaldo's video it is ready and could be opened even tomorrow.

The bridge seems to be still standing, it must be a real disappointment to Alpine Bau's engineers.

Let's hope that this bridge is still standing when it finally opens in May

Brilliant photos. Looks like the Mszana bridge is holding up very well under the stress test with those lorries - an encouraging sign for opening in May

Something to take note of in Poland.

http://www.welt.de/wirtschaft/articl...utobahnen.html

Eastern Germany has significant problems with concrete cancer, a chemical reaction which cracks the concrete. It usually shows after a few years, often when the warranty on the concrete by the contractor has expired.

That's a very old problem (known since at minimum 40 years): http://www.autobahn-online.de/phorum/read.php?5,129819 (in German).

Is that the same problem Bavaria had last summer (and A20 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern if I recall correctly)?

By the way, how did the winter affect road works in Poland? The winter wasn't very severe.

I am not an expert but I think it was a different problem.

Can't understand German :P it's a problem about the quality of concrete? Or weather conditions? I didn't see any problems with concrete in Austria yet (as far as i know)

It is caused by AKR (Alkali-Kieselsäure-Reaktion --> alkali–silica reaction). A bad kind of gravel was used.

PS: The article says that Mecklenburg-Vorpommern had the same problem, Bavaria had a different one. I have no idea if the Polish motorways could get the same problem (I am not an expert at all).

We have the AKR problem here in CZ too. Tens of kilometres of motorways are affected by it and need to be protected or replaced... It is caused by a wrong gravel type too.

Works are going well. I won't be suprised if some contracts will catch up or be way ahead of the time schedule.

The same problem shows up in the CZ. It is a about the alkaline reaction of the gravel in the concrete.

Here is one more photo of MA532 in Mszana on A1, high resolution view of the bridge's underside (photo by wawrzula). You can see the extent of repair program that had to be implemented to fix Alpine's errors. The purple elements under the bridge are exterior tension cables, you don't see that too often...
