Rest area (MOP) Brwinów is open, but petrol station is still under construction. As far as I know, there are no petrol stations open yet on this stretch.

Here is a map of rest areas on polish motorways/expressways:
MOP I - parking, toilet
MOP II & III - parking, petrol station, restaurant

Oil concerns boycotted tenders that's why consturction is delayed.

They don't want to build motels and rents are too high according to them (also there are fines if MOP is not ready in time)

MonteChristo, if I understand right - the GDDKiA managed sections of motorway will become electronically tolled only?

It will certainly solve the problems of toll booths being massively underbuilt (for example, the carnage last Friday on the entrance to the A4 tolled section near Wroclaw) - but I think it would make more sense to simply introduce vignettes. I'm not a fan at all of such systematic tolling for passenger cars, especially as all neighbouring countries except Belarus will have a vignette system in place.

Yes-they want to remove tool booths (all tool booths-also those in private hands). I also wonder why they don't go for vignettes-seems much easier and cheaper.

Vignettes are cheap to administer but they totally suck, they don't take into account user-pay for example and invariably you get tourists who don't / can't pay and then get screwed (Austria-style)

I am surprised they want to build hotels at MOP, I can understand not wanting to leave the tolled road to buy gasoline but the hotel, it's Poland, surely you can throw a rock out the window and hit a hotel somewhere not far from an interchange... with the completion of the network the whole country is like 20 minutes from Warsaw or Krakow...

^ when finished does DTS will change it's numbering or will stay as Droga Wojewodzka? Isn't it S-standard?

A1

What's the story behind this?

http://budownictwo.wnp.pl/budimex-ma...933_1_0_0.html

This stretch of A1 is already operational. I've read the interchange isn't finished, but they also don't have to build it from scratch, Google Earth imagery suggest most of the bridgeworks have been completed.

"All the countries around" is not an excuse. Vignette system is annoying to say the least, and may discourage tourists. I live in Munich and avoid Austria like the medieval plague, because they have vignettes, and paying 8 Euros to spend a few hours there is not economical.

I'd rather pay whatever you need to pay to set up an account with the VIA system and know I'm paying for each driven section, not a flat rate for 7 days out of which I will use one.

I agree that the old-fashioned physical vignettes stuck on the windscreen are an anachronism. However, toll booths are even worse. I don't see any excuse anymore for not having an automated system based on reading number plates like in Hungary, Israel, or the Faroe Islands.

You pay that € 8 for driving 45 minutes in France.... The vignette is not expensive at all unless you don't come any further into Austria than Salzburg or some nearby resort.

8€ for whole austrian network for one week isn't a problem. In italy you pay 7,30€ for 88km from Udine North to Tarvisio...
