It's not A18, at least not yet. At the moment it's normal national route (DK18).

Contracts were signed (one contract with Salini, the other with Astaldi) for design & construction of 2 sections of Marki bypass (S8 motorway). It will be 15 km of new 2x3 motorway. Completion date - summer 2017.

It is not NOW because of the terrible condition of eastbound part. So it was downgraded from A-class to just regular DK...not that long time ago.

If I'm correct, DK12 is now running across newly opened S8 between Sieradz and Łask.

But what happened to DK14? Is it scrapped along this corridor?

Yes DK12 is running across S8 Sieradz-Łask. DK14 ends on the Dobroń Interchange S8/S14. It`s quite short national road now.
Old DK8 corridor between Wieluń and Piotrków Trybunalski will be renumbered to DK74.

Thanks. Will the E67 follow the S8 to Warsaw including the detour b/n Lodz and Piotrkow Trybunalski? I think E roads should use the best and fastest route which would be A2 east of Lodz.

Who decides which route is signed with E numbering? Can the Polish authority change the route itself?

UNECE assigns E-numbers. However, they only assign the cities where they run through. The exact route between and around those cities may be chosen by the countries. So yes, Poland has the freedom to assign E67 to A2-A1-S8 if they want.

This is another example where E-numbers don't match the actual traffic flow.

To recap the renumbering of DK-routes;

* DK8: no longer assigned between south of Wrocław and Mszczonów
* DK12: routed across S8 between Sieradz and Łask
* DK14: truncated to S14 near Łódź (almost 100 km shorter)
* DK74: extended west to S8 near Walichnowy (more than 100 km longer)

You guys were talking about that probably 100 times,but when is southern carriageway on A18 going to be reconstructed.

GDDKiA says it's early 90's on it's fb page (where picture was posted).


1994/1995 is still early 90's for me :P

Nobody really knows, but there were rumors some time ago that GDDKiA plans it together with extension of A4 to 2x3 west of Wrocław... so for sure they won`t star befor 2017, maybe just after 2020, who knows...

The south carriageway is in really bad condition i really don't understand why they don't reconstruct it .

Because that how it is in Poland. There is so many other priorities that this part got neglected and forgotten who knows for how long yet. And yes, there is not that heavy traffic on DK18 comparing to other places but for god's sake it is a first thing drivers from abroad see entering our country from Germany side... it is really a shame...
