That's correct in the usual cases where the facilities slow down the flow of traffic, which is illegal to do at an internal Schengen border but, sadly, the European Commission is not pushing hard for the member states to come into compliance in a hurry.

It's weird since the old road across the Odra *in* Slubice (or Frankfurt am Oder) has no impediments at all...

Probably such low traffic on Berlinka route they didn't have border post even in PRL-DDR times

Only few km left at the east end. Most has asphalt pavement, as you see on movie, from German border to east.

There was never any impediments in Słubice, except a barrier that could be easily moved. It's not common knowledge, but there used to be a guard post on the Polish side - which served as a sort of first line/secondary check. Anyway, there were impediments on the German side until very recently, so I wouldn't use it as a good example. The Germans are also very frequently checking people there - I've been stopped twice, once after returning from dinner in Słubice with a German friend. The poor Germans couldn't figure out why we were talking to each other in Polish despite neither of us being Polish. Anyway, Kołbaskowo was one of the very few border crossings between the PRL and DDR.

Many were destroyed in 1945 and never rebuilt, over a sample short stretch of Oder you see names like Zollbrucke ( Customs Bridge) for example in these links.

Cataphotes, also known as retroreflectors or cat's eyes (not to be confused with the road marking device invented in the UK in the early 1930's) was invented in France in 1917 (patented in 1923), and were already used since the mid-1920's for road signs.
