That can be serious. They had this in Germany (A57 Dormagen in 2012) where they had to tear the entire motorway bridge down.

It's Łazienkowski Bridge, not Poniatowski. No tram routes here.

Is the superstructure damaged? It's a steel girder bridge as far as I can tell.

how can that happen? i would never say that there would be enough oxygen for wooden elements in such a bridge to be caught on fire.

It'll take some time to assess the damage. So far it doesn't look too bad, it's actually quite lucky a river happens to be flowing underneath this bridge Firefighters used fireboats to cool the structure down, it doesn't look deformed. But obviously we'll need to wait for some more in-depth analysis.

Wooden platforms (used to maintain installations like cables and pipes underneath the bridge) were covered with oil-based timber preservatives. Fire started on one end of the bridge and easily spread along those platforms. Ironic thing is that those wooden platforms were supposed to be replaced this year, it's suspected that the fire started in a pile of wooden elements already removed from the bridge by the workers.

This is the best I could find. Like toonczyk said, these wooden platforms were used to maintain installations like cables and pipes underneath the bridge and they were supposed to be replaced later on this year.

Little birdie told me that one of those wires carried military datalink, so now it has become a matter of national security. This may elongate the restoration time, as military investigators probably would halt it for a while to determine if it wasn't a spy sabotage.

The platforms repairing were planned a few months too late...
