traffic fatalities per 1 billion vehicle kilometers

I took a look at Poland's traffic fatalities per 1 billion vehicle kilometers. This takes into account the growth of road traffic.

The vehicle kilometers data comes from the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS), as well as some of the earlier traffic fatality data. I had to extrapolate some data because not all years were available, I used a linear growth based on preceding years.

It would make sense to build at least an expwy from Hradec Kralove to border, then Warsaw will be connected to Prague by the shortest route. Sadly it is the question not only to GDDKIA but also to the Chech side. At least 7 years in best case to see something like an expressway.

Still not enough IMHO, don't forget that they withdraw driver's licence for extreme speeding of over 50 KM/h only since mid of last year . A "uniqueness" in Europe .

As a matter of fact, you can still drive at 100 KM/H in front of an elementary school/kindergarten without any consequences at all, except a little fine under 80€

That is not unique in Europe. Latvia suspends one's driving license for 3 months for driving much faster than the limit. I don't remember whether the rule is 50kmh over the limit or twice the limit. Something like that.

You need to drive 101 km/h or more to lose it.

I know it, but if you hurt somebody next to pedestrian crossing, you'll have a bigger problem. It doesn't need to drive faster than 100kmph...

First, I would be happy with an extension of the S8 south to Klodzko.

As I said before, even S8 to Łagiewniki would be great. It's a 33km section, but traffic is so heavy there (even at weekends) that it would make the road slightly more tolerable. It would also open up horrible towns such as Niemcza for development which they badly, badly need.

True, but few people thinks in that way, it's often when the inevitable happened that the offender realizes what he has done and how stupid his behavior was.
Firstly, a smaller speed (<50 KM/H) leave at least a chance to the most vulnerable road users, such as children, elderly, but also generally pedestrians and cyclists. Secondly, it doesn't need to be mentioned that if you hit someone at over 80 KM/H the chance of survival are almost always zero.
Saying that, fact is that motorists are more affected and careful when you touch to their wallet, driver's licence, confiscating car, and facing a possible criminal court sentence - than any other method - that's the best option to make them "think" and responsibilize them, before it's too late.

P.S.: The speeding at almost twice the speed limit in a town, heavily drunken (over 2,2%) and under drugs, and if it was not least, blind as he didn't wore his compulsory glasses, "killer" driver, that decimated families of 8 persons, including childrens and 10-year old handicapped for life now orphan, by plowing and running into a pedestrian zone, and denying everything afterwards, "only" got a 12 years condamnation in a first verdict pointing that he "unintentionally run into them as he was not able to see them", in the second appeal process there was even no judgment! - not even trying to reconstruct the facts - and he could be freed much earlier!
> You can see how lax is the Polish justice system and law in front of criminals behind the wheel!

Or breaking Constitution... now not on wheel. However, again politics. About roads: S47 to Zakopane is also a simply wonderful decision, there are sometimes even traffic jams in the entrance to the town. There is no sense finishing in Rabka-Zdroj.+ Maybe Opatow- Skarzysko-Kamienna. These would make sense

???
If they build S47 to Zakopane, the only change will be that traffic jam will occupy two lanes instead of one

Wow, it looks like one can drive between Warsaw and Katowice in under 3 hours (via S8 and DK1 Roadway).

That's not too bad imho

Are you kidding? What kind of penalty would he get if he took a gun and shot the people to death instead? In Canada and surely typical EU country probably would be on the streets in 10-12 years easily.
