And sadly it was not yet open when I travelled there two weeks ago. It is also nice to see construction of all remaining parts of S8 to Bialystok that is vital to international transit.

You can see Gdańsk-Elbląg S7 building progress photographed by one of the forum users: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...#post132758396

Let me just give one remark:

There was so much noise in the papers that village Stare Babki will be totally demolished for S7. This misinformation was conceived by unreliable journalists who know Stare Babki only from driving DK7, and never bothered to take a turn into local road and learn that there is more of the village out there. As you see from this picture:

Hi all. Last time I was in Poland, in 2010, my family and I travelled from Czestochowa to Zakopane, and Czestochowa to Lodz. On the way to Zakopane, there was a ton of work on the roads it seemed, and lots of detours, and small work on the way to Lodz. I was wondering if this work has been done / if it's a new highway? Or, is there any work happening near Czestochowa?

Vs what I'm used to, I was taken aback by the stop lights on what I thought was the highway we took.

A positive trend.

By the way, 'wounded' is a term more appropriate in war. 'injured' or 'injuries' is more often used when talking about road accidents.

The scale is still comperable to war though so it's kind of appropriate...

Injury is a broader term than wound. All wounds are injuries, but not all injuries are wounds. Injured or injuries is the correct term here.

When is the aforementioned completed part of the A1 (Lodz bypass) going to be opened to traffic?

By the way, it was the last remaining contract for the whole S5 motorway between A1 and A8. The route will be completed in summer 2019.

Nice. Let's hope remaining part between Gniezno and Grudziadz including Bydgoszcz bypass will progress fast too.

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but would anyone know the expected traffic levels on roads between the S3 and S5 expressways? Do the authorities project a lot more movement on DK12 or DK36?

Looking for an advise on the route Czestochowa - Cziesyn.

Would there by any advantage to go around Katowice via A1 + DK81 (via Zory) + S69 to Cziesyn? It's seems to be only slightly longer than S1(DK1) + S69.

Preference would be to have a more scenic route, though I guess i should not expect anything for either option.

If you intend to travel from Częstochowa, then I would recommend taking the A1 to Żory, then hop on the 935 link road, followed by 81 southbound. The 81 is a pleasant enough drive and the route becomes quite scenic as you approach Skoczów. South of Skoczów take the S1 westbound and at the last junction with 938 turn off to go into Cieszyn. I recommend the ice cream in the main town square, if you get a chance, it is beyond delicious.

The other route you mentioned (1/S1) is also OK but less scenic. Traffic jams around Tychy and northern Bielsko-Biała are unpredictable, though.

By the way, the S69 does not go to Cieszyn, the S1 does, make sure your sat nav understands that. Otherwise the S69 will take you ~40 km off course, although the views would be nothing short of stunning.

Without thinking take A1 + DK81 route, on the S1 section one bridge is being repaired while DK1 is severely congested especially in Pszczyna and between Pszczyna and Bielsko there seems to be some road works so You can expect complete madness. The A1 option is by far much pleasant to drive and there shouldn’t be any road works ahead. The A1 also is cutting through some hills while DK81 near Skoczów is paralleling Wisła river so also interesting section. Meanwhile S1 from Bielsko to Cieszyn (S69 is a beautiful road but it goes from Bielsko to Slovakia border not to Cieszyn) winds through hills with mountains in the background so it can be called scenic route. I recommend also taking this shortcut.
