Guys a little info about S79: from google maps I see wezel Marynarska and a small section of s79 which continues northbound. I found a map on siskom with a project of connecting s79 to s7 in future wezel Bemowo on s8. The idea is to upgrade existing DW719?

There were no Śląsk fans in Warszawa on Saturday (except for KKN, who are safe enough and don't need police protection). It must have been other group of fans if any.

Bad news - Skanska is to fire up to 1150 people due to lower amount of road contracts signed and stopping tendering procedures for many sections (EUR 5 billion in total planned value):

Even with the huge volume of contracts signed in Poland over the last year? Skanska must've had some unfavorable bids then.

In recent years in Poland, Skanska deliberately avoided big road tenders, focusing mainly on small road tenders. The latter may be more profitable but if you want to be big, then you have to play big.

Are Skanska involved in building the one stretch of expressway left to open this year (S8 Zambrów - Mężenin due to open in December) or with smaller bypasses/expressways in 2017?

The signage doesn't make sense, but the system of roads does. When you go from Wrocław to Warsaw, you go through S8 to Łódź, then A1 and A2. You don't go through Piotrków Trybunalski, as it was before. There is no need for any connector, at least not for the transit traffic. It exists in far-reaching plans, but it's needed more as a connection between Łódź and Tomaszów Mazowiecki, for the local traffic.

It's an upgrade of a road built in the 1970's, which was actually the same road as the DK1 between Katowice and Piotrków Trybunalski, it was a road with the same standard (basically, a motorway according to the standards from those times, but without interchanges and overpasses). Before that, the main road from Wrocław and Łódź to Warsaw was the current DK14 to Łowicz and then the current DK92 to Warsaw.

4) The complete lack of petrol stations between Łódź and Wrocław is ridiculous - over 200km without petrol?!
It's normal that when a new road is built, it takes some time for the gas stations to appear. In case of motorways, the road stays free of charge until that moment. You can always leave the road on one of the exits and use a station in the neighbourhood.

DK8 had lower standard that DK1.

What about comparison with the section between Częstochowa and the Silesia? It had also lower standard (more intersections) than the one between Piotrków and Częstochowa. On the other hand, from what I remember, the DK8 from Piotrków to Warsaw had some interchanges already before, before it became S8 (I remember at least one in Tomaszów Mazowiecki quite a few years ago, before the upgrading), and DK1, except for the A1 section between Głuchów and Piotrków (mostly not a part of the "Gierkówka" anyway) and the city of Częstochowa (I think, most of them have been built recently, but the overpass over Jagiellońska street is old) had just a few standard intersections with traffic lights.

That's a pity that there won't be a southern bypass of Lublin through Zemborzyce and Abramowice, which would make full Lubliner Ring

The end of traffic jams on highways? The government is considering the introduction of vignettes

The Ministry of Infrastructure is considering a scenario in which the 2018 drivers using toll roads will use vignettes - learned DGP. This can be a remedy to congestion at the gates.

In November 2018 the current operator of the e-toll viaTOLL company Kapsch ends contract with the government. It means a tender for a new operator and, perhaps, far-reaching changes in the system. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction (MIB) declares that he is considering different scenarios, ranging from the currently used radio technology (with gantries and OBE) on the TV.

But in an interview with the DGP Deputy Minister Jerzy Szmit admits that it is also considered a scenario vignette. - That we can not rule out - he says. - For example, the Hungarian system to a certain extent based on the bought drivers vignettes time and this is a pretty interesting concept. You have to remember that where there are vignettes, there is a basic dilemma of how to ensure the tightness of the system - adds Deputy Minister Szmit.

Sticking to the windshield vignettes apply in Poland until the end of June 2011. The system, however, was full of holes and does not bring the desired influence. Hence the idea to some extent come back to this solution, at first glance may seem quite exotic.

But the concept has attracted interest even representatives Kapscha. Today it is possible to implement electronic vignettes (such as in Slovakia), which does not require any labels or board equipment. In the case of Polish you do not need to be either completely abandon the current system, in which we put over 2 billion zł.

The effects of the introduction of e-vignettes quickly welcomed by the driver - disappear gateway, and the old toll plazas would remain only a device for remote control vehicles (special camera could eg. scan registration numbers of vehicles and check whether you have already bought vignette).

It is certain, however, as the proposal would react concessionaires. Autostrada Wielkopolska is not at home the problem of traffic jams, so the government makes tough demands. On the other hand, a few days on the section A4 Krakow - Katowice operates an electronic system implemented at their own expense by the company Stalexport. In theory, it should be the least of problems on the A1 motorway, the section Toruń - Gdańsk manages GTC. Due to the shape of the concession agreement where the government has most to say.

The expressway Cieszyn - Bielsko Biała was resigned as S52 (east-west road). The new number already exists on the signs.

The expressway (and short section of national road "69" ) Bielsko Biała - Zwardoń was resigned as S1/ "1" (north-south road).
