TBM works best in solid massive rock, if you try to use a TBM in a very soft rock area it wont work and get stucked

It has nothing to do with the "hardness of rock". TBMs can be used in both, soft and hard rocks. Here the problem is with complicated geologic conditions and different layers of rocks. TBMs work best in uniform conditions.

As I've mentioned before, due to complicated geological conditions, the tunnel will be built using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM).

We still have some reminders of motorways being built by Germans during the WW2. Especially the Berlin-Kaliningrad (Königsberg then) road, the one which was a Germans' pretext to start the war.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berlinka

It seems, the map shows a part of it as "under construction" (solid lines instead of dashed ones).

I wonder why they planned this road? It seems to serve no purpose, even in "Reichsgau Wartheland"...

I dig a bit in google maps and found possible continuation of that alignment all the way to place south of Siennica village (below road between Siennica and Zabinek ).:

Recently there has been a discussion on this road and other planned German motorways in today's Poland here on our forum: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...208131&page=88
_______________

Construction permits were issued for two remaining sections of S6 motorway Szczecin - Koszalin:

S6: Nowogard-East - north of Płoty-North 20.3km (March 2017 to May 2019) – projectmap

Seen some pictures of one section by guys who used DK631 to bypass Warsaw while on the way from Lithuania. Judging by the current construction state, the opening date of July 2017 seems not realistic.
Sep/Oct 2017 - likely

A recap on upcoming scheduled road openings:

DK74, bypass of Wieluń (13.2 km, 2+1 lanes, grade-separated) will be opened on 31st March.

S7 Radom-South - Skarżysko Kamienna-North, scheduled for April, will probably be delayed. Maybe they will somehow manage to finish the section that runs along the old route (near Szydłowiec). But there is no connection to DK7 at Radom-South (it is a part of another contract) and it is unclear whether a temporary connection will be built or not.

S3, second carriageway of Gorzów Wielkopolski bypass, scheduled for April, will be delayed for sure. Dragados wants to change the deadline to September.

S7 Nidzica - Napierki, scheduled for May. Good progress on ths section, there should be no delays.

S7 Jędrzejów - Moczydło, scheduled for May. At least a two month delay is projected.

DK82 overpassing DW809 in Lublin (Lublin's main east-west artery, here).

This is not a very significant project, but aerial photos are always nice

The northern Wieluń bypass (opening 31.03.2017) will take a lot of transit traffic out of the town, however it does need another south and west bypass to divert northbound and southbound traffic on DK43 and DK45 away from Wieluń. Traffic could use the northern bypass as far as Biała interchange and then use the west and south bypass to avoid Wieluń to rejoin the existing DK43 and DK45 south of Wieluń

A construction permit was issued for a section of S17 motorway (Warszawa - Lublin):

S17: Ruda - Skrudki 20.2km (March 2017 to June 2019) – projectmap

This section includes the bypass of Ryki.

News from the GDDKiA is that the Poznań-Wronczyn section of the S5 is only 34% complete. They're saying that it might be technically possible to open the road by the end of the year, but it's clear to everyone here that the contractor simply isn't able to pay the bills properly and that there's no chance of it opening then.

http://epoznan.pl/news-news-75151-No...tym_roku&#8221

I'll be surprised if this opens by the end of August 2018. It's frustrating, because this section (along with Wrocław-Trzebnica) is badly, badly needed.
