Both new alignments on this section (bypass of Ostrożne and bypass of Wyszomierz Wielki) are already opened.

Thanks Kemo that's good, but that is not whole S8 between Zambrów and Prosienica

It's close, but still there's some work left to finish. The problem is that the weather is supposed to turn really nasty, so they need to really finish it in the next couple of days.

I hope they open it before Saturday, but it seems unlikely now

Didn't see any official opening of the junction Szydłowiec-Centrum on the S7 either, but when I passed it last night on my way to Warszawa it seemed open to traffic...

Edit - southbound it's still closed, only northbound it's open. Still working on the acoustic barriers there.

Today GDDKiA (Polish road authority) opened price offers for the last remaining section of A1: 80,35 km section between Tuszyn (south of Łódź) and Częstochowa.

That section will be built in concrete and will have 2x3 full motorway profile all the way (except 2x4 section near Piotrków Trybunalski). It will replace the existing substandard 2x2 national road DK1 build in communist era.

It was divided into 5 subsections:

Section A Tuszyn - Piotrków Południe (15,8 km), where the best offer was filed by Budimex/Strabag (PLN 479 mln)

Section B Piotrków Południe - Kamieńsk (24,21 km), where the best offer was made by Intercor (650 mln)

Section C Kamieńsk - Radomsko (16,52 km), where the best offer was submitted by Strabag/Budimex (PLN 573 mln)

Section D Radomsko - Silesia/Łódź Voivodeship border (7,02 km), where the cheapest bid was made by Intercor (PLN 338 mln)

Section E Silesia/Łódź Voivodeship border - Częstochowa Nord (16,8 km), where the best offer was made by Intercor (PLN 486 mln).

Entire section was not the luckiest in Poland. Although being by far the top priority in all road development programms, it will be built as last part of A1. Previous contract signed in the preceding decade was terminated by GDDKiA because the contractor failed to secure financing of the construction. Then the previous government was exploring (or faking efforts) some off-state balance sheet financing by specifal purpose vehicles but that never became anything more than political talks. Now it will be financed from the National Road Fund.

GDDKiA secured PLN 2,49 bln for that section. All offers combined are PLN 0,45 bln cheaper (although one section was slightly higher than GDDKiA's budget but nobody expects the contract would not be awarded given substantial savings on the remaing sections). That section was subject to costs optimalisation in the tender.

Assuming no delays, contracts should be signed late Q2 2018 and opening should fall somewhere in 2021.

It's not weird that it's being built last, because a few years ago, before the motorway construction boom, it was one of the best roads in Poland. When we had almost no motorways, any motorway-like road was very good.

It's also not an easy decision politically, because now the drivers have a not really good, but toll-free road, and it will be replaced with a toll motorway.

Design & build contracts have been signed with Budimex for:

- construction of S3, section Ostromice - Miękowo
- modernisation of S3, section Goleniów - Rzęśnica: this includes construction of a brand new "Rzęśnica" interchange in place of the old one (a.k.a. Anschlussstelle Hornskrug) and construction of a new "Kliniska" junction instead of the existing infamous at-grade intersection with pedestrian crossing (here)

Completion date is Spring 2021

DK46 Kłodzko

What is this at Kłodzko? A bus stop? A weigh station?
