Besides downtown and Waikiki, here are the other skylines. I took these from an interisland flight.
Aiea: A cluster of condos around Pearlridge Mall near Pearl Harbor. Aloha Stadium is on the right. Salt Lake: Another condo cluster. Strange zoning laws allowed this area to rise a good way from downtown. From Punchbowl, here's the capitol (with the pillars) and downtown

Those are some strange zoning regulations they have there? any idea as to why they would allow such buildings in such random spots?

I saw a number of residential towers in Honolulu that have ceilings shorter than 9 feet. That would mean I also saw one building whose ceilings are only 7 feet 10 inches tall: "Ohana Maile Sky Court". Th at building has 44 floors, but is only 350 feet high. Other skyscrapers that have the same height and floor count as this building are The Windsor Senior Apartments and Island Colony.

Wow, looks amazing. Great HDR and the last pic shows the great contrast between the low-rise and high-rise zones, and the lush vegetation of Hawaii (looks like from the Phillipines)! Honolulu is really the Pacific's skyscraper city!

Very nice photos. Never realized how Asian and South American Honolulu looks like, it's interesting.

I am thinking of visiting Honolulu this summer. I was wondering, how safe is it? How do prices compare to other major US cities? How's the city transportation system?
Excellent pics btw!

Honolulu is a very safe for a large city. Yes it does have its bad neighborhoods but its unlikely that you'll be visiting it since 90% of the tourist hang in Waikiki (Tourist District) of the city. When you say you're visiting Hawaii you mean Oahu -Honolulu right I assume. Honolulu has the best public transportation in the United States, bar none. There's over 550 buses that makes the fleet, all air condition and very modern (almost half now are hybrid). There's over 70+ routes and they pretty much cover the entire island of Oahu. www.thebus.org Honolulu's bus page. For the other islands, Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Kauai, Lanai, bus service are nonexistent or very poor (much like LA's system) so I would rent a car on those islands.
The state of Hawaii (including all islands and cities) can sum up in one word, EXPENSIVE. Gallon of milk is around 6-8 dollars, sometime I see 10 bucks. Half a gallon of ice cream? 8 dollars. Everything is expensive here since everything is shipped. Hotel rooms are expensive too, averages from 80-300 dollars per night. You thought living in New York is expensive, come to Honolulu and see for yourself what is expensive.

These photos are amazing! The last time I was there in Honolulu was in 1992 when I was 10 years old. Even then there was lots of construction going on. I've been thinking about visiting this year and these photos have convinced me. I'll be checking with my travel agent tomorrow! Keep the great photos coming!

Photo I took recently, not good quality but its decent. The Waikiki skyline, I couldn't get the Ala Moana-Maikiki-Downtown skylines in this picture because that house on the right was blocking the way.
