Honolulu was home for me in the mid-eighties and even then the skyscrapers and the building boom was quite amazing. But I now live in Dubai and incredibly Honolulu seems like a small town now by comparison. When I visit it now I feel like a small child returning home. Everything that once seemed so big, tall and expansive, now seems somewhat miniature.
As impressive as Honolulu's skyline is it would be more interesting if zoning laws allowed taller buildings in some configuration. I'm not suggesting a free for all where all of a sudden you'd have an 80 story tower rising among much shorter ones, but some form of graduated height increases could be allowed. As it is there are few tall, slender buildings with spires that can be quite iconic. Most are boxy, rectangular or wall-like.

I have a bunch of pics that I hadn't had the time to go thru. Hopefully will get the time to post them soon
Those 2 towers are called Century Park Plaza, ~40 stories high. My friend used to live one of them. Has some amazing views of the island |

Why do you say Honolulu is underrated? It's beautiful! I went there 3 years ago and it reminded me so much of Puerto Rico, it's so beautiful...

I've seen about four members from Honolulu. There should be more as people from Oahu since we are really vocal when it comes to political and social issues happening in and around the state *sees HonoluluAdvertiser.com comment section*. BTW are you by any chance Jai Cunningham from KOHN2? Random question.
