I rather like this vantage point

Wai'anae Range, west from Pearl City. At center bottom is Waiawa H-1/H-2 interchange, left is Waipahu, right is Waikele

Cool pano! It's pretty dark so I put it into photoshop to brighten it and see where I was. If my memory is correct, is the Waikele Outlet mall just up and to the right of the curve in the H1?

Just dropping by to be glad to see Honolulu skyline so amazing. I have one question: Has the city ever had above ground power lines? Does it still have any left?

Anyways, I was talking to the guy who was a chief engineer in the design of the San Juan metro. He said they offered him a job for the metro in Hawaii. He's not sure yet, but on the bright side, the project is moving forward!

Above ground power lines are common in some areas of the city, the pictures I showed you are at an area where its underground.
I'm too am glad that we are finally going to get a metro system built. Right now the city is deciding from three engineering companies, which of their products will be best suited for Honolulu.

Here's the link if you're interested in Honolulu's rail bids.

the public utility company in Puerto Rico refuses to build underground power lines, so municipalities have to take up the bill themselves. its a nightmare...

Thanks for the info and the link!

Puerto Rico got Siemens, which dropped from the bidding process. Although for some reason the system goes 55 MPH max... I think the SkyTrain goes faster.

I hope this isn't some dumb FRA rule.

That would be awesome if they ended up with the same bombardier trains that Vancouver has. 3rd rail, automated driver-less. Very posh.

My girlfriend is currently here with her family. I had no idea how big this city actually is. It looks amazing!

How you like the hike on top of Diamond Head? Btw you also live in Honolulu or just visiting? More photos are always something great to see.
