Are you kidding? It's fantastic 70's architecture. The classic. I hope it's protected.

No, I am not. I don't think a thing built in the 70's deserves the title "classic". Much less "fantastic architecture".

Well I agree with you. But as you all know the beauty is only in the eye of the observer. Everyone has a right to say his opinion which may sometimes differ from what others think. Therefore I don't see much point in arguing about this.

TO ATAMAN:
I agree with kokpit. I think that all you don´t like about it is its past. If such building was built today you would say that it´s marvelous architercture.

Unfortunately, buildings this ugly are still being built today. That is the saddest part. Communism has nothing to do with what we call "commieblock-architecture". It was the type of thinking people back then had (and still have) that produced these...what we call "pieces of art". Western Europe had more wealth, and in fact built more of that "70s architecture" than the Eastern Bloc.

The reason I am not complaining so much (although I would like to) about buildings being built right now is it is easier to vent my frustration at buildings people generally do not like. If I were to do so, people would (rightly) start defending that piece of architecture, and I would get into many debates. And I have other things to do than debating.

This debate sounds awfully similar to the question:

"What is art?"

And I do not consider this as "art".

I'm impressed. I really love that hotel on the pics, maybe renovation would have a positive effect, but even now it's great...

You see what I mean... You can find 100 people that like this hotel and 100 people that think it's ugly. Therefore there's no point in arguing about this.

To me it looks awful but I'm sure there'll be plenty of you who would disagree with me.

OK, firstly we have different opinions on this building. May I ask you why you do not consider for exapmle that photo you posted as art?
So this is not art in your opinion?

That school looks pretty scratchy to me..Many elements just "glued" together without any sense..

That school is first-class at the first sight. Is there an observatory on the roof?

@Wizzard: I hope that Petrzalka will look better with the new tramway...

@all: I was updating my stamps page today and found an interesting picture under http://www.kto.sk/index.php?stid=2567 from former East Germany
