Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Kuala Lumpur
Moorish architecture ![]() Topped by a shiny copper dome and a 40m high clock tower, it is a major landmark in the city. It serves as the backdrop for important events such as the National Day Parade on August 31 and the ushering in of the New Year. This heritage building used to be occupied by the then Apex Court of Malaysia, the Supreme Court which was subsequently renamed the Federal Court. The Court of Appeal was also housed in this historic building. The Federal Court and the Court of Appeals have since moved to the Palace of Justice located in Putrajaya, the new Federal administrative capital. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building now houses the Commercial Division of the High Court of Malaya. From wikipedia ![]() ![]()

Moorish architecture
Kuala Lumpur Railway Station From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Kuala Lumpur Railway Station is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The building was completed in 1911 when it began service as the central point for Malaya's rail transportation system such as the Keretapi Tanah Melayu. It was refurbished in 1986 with additional new facilities and buildings, including air-conditioned waiting halls, tourism information counters, snack bars and more. This beautiful Moorish-style railway station is located at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, which incidentally is the heart of the city too. The National Mosque, Station Hotel and Dayabumi Complex are among the nearby landmarks. As the central station, it was always bustling especially with the start of the KTM Komuter service. However, with the newly-built KL Sentral taking over, the KL Railway Station has become a stop solely for commuter trains. The rest go to KL Sentral, which is located less than a kilometer away. Pasar Seni LRT station is a 400 m walk from the Komuter platform. After 90 years of operation, the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station has now seen the end of its heyday. by Jeremy Malcolm image hosted on flickr ![]() by Eric @ Flickr ![]() by archiprez mosis ![]() by Yi-Chien Chang ![]() ![]()

Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang
The Kek Lok Si Temple (Penang Hokkien for "Temple of Supreme Bliss"; Simplified Chinese: 极乐寺; Traditional Chinese: 極樂寺) is a Buddhist temple situated in Air Itam in Penang and is one of the best known temples on the island. The construction of the temple began in 1893 and was inspired by the chief monk of the Goddess of Mercy Temple at Pitt Street. With the support of the consular representative of China in Penang, the project received the sanction of the Manchu Emperor Guangxu, who bestowed a tablet and gift of 70,000 volumes of the Imperial Edition of the Buddhist Sutras. In 1930, the seven storey main pagoda of the temple or the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas, was completed. This pagoda combines a Chinese octagonal base with a middle tier of Thai design, and a Burmese crown; reflecting the temple's embrace of both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism. In 2002, a 30.2m bronze statue of the Kuan Yin was completed and opened to public. The statue is located on the hillside above the pagoda. ![]()

Hindu Temple in Malaysia
Batu cave Hindu Temple, Kuala Lumpur The first cave temple was established in 1891, and wooden steps up to the Temple Cave were built in 1920. Of the various cave temples that comprise the site, the largest and best known is the Temple or Cathedral Cave, so named because it houses several Hindu shrines beneath its 100 m vaulted ceiling. A 42.7m high statue of Lord Murugan was unveiled in Jan 2006, having taken 3 years to construct. There are 272 steps that a visitor has to climb in order to access the temple at the summit of the hill. Many of the shrines relate the story of Lord Murugan's victory over Soorapadam. An audio tour is available to visitors. At the base of the hill are two more cave temples, Art Gallery Cave and Museum Cave, both of which are full of Hindu statues and paintings. The site serves as the focus of the Hindu community's yearly Thaipusam (Tamil : தைபூசம்) festival. A procession begins at the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, KL and lasts eight hours. In 2006, the festival attracted more than 1.5 million pilgrims, making it one of the largest gatherings in history. by yoda02 ![]() by superciliousness ![]() by Mystic Lens ![]()
