The regulation plan for 10 Hålogalandsvegen have been approved. Financing still needs to be approved by the parliament. Construction start is expected in 2019.

Fv.60 in Utvik (Sogn og Fjordane) has been washed out by a flash flood. This the road that connects Stryn to Skei / Førde.

E6

The toll rates on E6 go up on 7 August.

http://www.autopass.no/Nyhetsarkiv/b...olomoen-endres

The overall rate from Gardermoen to Kolomoen goes up from 117 to 140 NOK (66 km). That comes down to € 15, or € 0.23 per kilometer, which is twice the rate they charge on the already considered expensive French or Spanish toll roads. I think E6 may be the most expensive toll road in Europe that is not a special object (bridge or tunnel) or very short route.

According to the article, Autopass holders won't really experience higher prices because their general discount rate is also increased, from 10 to 20 per cent.

Toll roads

Statens Vegvesen has evaluated 80 toll financed projects.

http://vegnett.no/2017/07/bompengepr...o-ar-for-tida/

On average, toll financed projects were paid back 2 years ahead of schedule. The Eiksund Connection was even paid back in 6 instead of the anticipated 15 years (9 years ahead of schedule).

The study shows that toll roads on average carry 21.9% more traffic than forecast. This is particularly pronounced at fjord crossings, which on average carry 46.5% more traffic than anticipated. Urban toll cordons carry 1.7% less traffic than anticipated, so those forecasts are closest to reality.

The cost of toll collection ranges from 11 to 16% of toll revenue. This is a bit higher than the goal of 10%.

Beautiful! Nordland and Troms are high on my bucket list. So far I haven't been farther north than E14.

Which mobile operator has better coverage in rural areas in Norway, from the experience for people who drive there often? Telenor? Chilimobil? Telia? ICE?

In terms of basic coverage, there's little differences between the three. Only some few places will have coverage on one network, and not the others. In most cases the coverage is equal. Or there's a small difference with one operator offering 4G+ while the other still only offers 4G, 3G or even EDGE. I live quite rural, and coverage has never been a topic when I've chosen operator.

Telenor claim to have 98 % population coverage and 64 % area coverage with their 4G+ network.

Couldn't find the numbers for any of the others, but in general there's little differences.

Do you know if Nye Veier projects will also become toll-free after 10 or 15 years?

Most toll projects in Norway are only partially funded through tolls, when it is paid back, the tolls are lifted, often within 10-15 years.

But I'm not sure how this works with Nye Veier. Perhaps they are 100% toll financed, so it will take much longer - if ever - for them to become detolled.
